It was a gorgeous evening of Pour House pub trivia on this (I don’t want to jinx it) warming Thursday evening? Read on for a recap!
February 21, 2014
We learned so many things on this Thursday evening of Pour House pub trivia! It was a totally packed night, with dozens of teams out coming after our sweet cache of prizes!
Fun facts from the night!
The Rob Roy is probably the most terrible cocktail known to man!
Don’t LET LEN Steal your Sunshine!
Two great tastes that taste great together? The world’s greatest candy, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup!
Last Thursday’s snow day was made up in force tonight. 18 teams showed up to contest the top prize in Thursday’s installment of Pour House Trivia at Champion Billiards. And minus that poltergeist in my sound system early on, the game was pretty dag on awesome!
Many early bonus chips were whiffed early on, on questions like Rob Roy and “Let-Len.” But seriously, Champions teams can grind baby! They got down to it in the second half and we had ourselves a straight up race to the finish after our “taxi driver” 6-4-2. The thing is..as we know…you don’t have to be leading the race heading out of Round 4, you just gotta be in sniping distance! And the lovely trio of ladies over at Vitrifiers are no strangers to a final question steal! BOOM! Congrats on that WIN Vitrifiers; a tough one, and well deserved! Well played…
2nd Place was Horseshoes and Hand Greanades who were playing a little shy of a full team but still managed to take the number two spot against a tough field of trivia teams! Good stuff yall
Just Good Enough led much of the game tonight but after a tough final they had to take the number thre spot. 4th and 5th Place shouts to Laqueefa (nice come back!!!) and Brain Freeze, respectively!
Top 3 Things I can Take Away from Tonight
1. I NEVER EVER will care to drink a Rob Roy (Scotch and Vermouth? really?)
2. Our “Want Ads” have come a looongggg way since 1860!
3. Okay…Im curious now…I want to try a Rob Roy! doh! (Im so fickle)
Have a great weekend everyone…See you at next Thursday’s game. Vitrifiers have asked us to study up on some “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Til then…
We had a very successful 2nd night of PHT at Dan’s Restaurant and Taphouse in Boonsboro, thank you all so much for coming out!
Town Drunks arrived in force, and played a stellar game of trivia tonight for the win. SFW brought in some back-up as well and held on strong for 2nd, while a new team, Terrapins Station, pulled it out of the fire for 3rd.
Join me next week, where our first category will be human anatomy.
We had a new team roll into the Fish Market tonight, apparently a veteran team looking to settle on a new venue.
They call themselves “Eleven is a Prime Number” (this is true). They came out firing and did NOT look back, remaining in first place from the get go all the way through the entirety of the game.
They were up a whopping 16 points going into the final question, could not be caught, and claimed the victory! Great showing, glad to have you here, hopefully we see you again next week!
Second place went to our regulars Put It On Seabass’ Tab and 3rd place went to a new team Black Irish! Very happy to have newcomers. You’re always welcome!
The warmer weather definitely had new players coming out of the woodwork for tonight’s game!
We had a packed house at Guido’s Speakeasy!! Our medal podium tonight looked like this: AFTER A KILLER TIEBREAKER, we had TNC prevail over We Made A Huge Mistake for the BRONZE!
In second we had the silver-medal pair of Stink Floyd!!
Up top tonight with the shiny gold medal was None Pizza Left Beef!! Their choice for first category next week? TRIPLE 50/50 L. Ron Hubbard or Oprah! See you next Thursday downtown!! ~Torie
Spring is right around the corner and new faces are showing up at the Oyster house.
But some old favorite took the top slots tonight Clever team name took the first place slot with 145, and right behind them was If we only had a brain at 134.
Mother Shucker held their own with 119. Tough question tonight, but we learned a lot. Next week look for Olympic Hockey as our first category.
We welcomed a few new faces to Quincy’s on Thursday night, and some of those folks made quite an impression on the standings. Team Depends played a near-flawless game, but still could not shake Uncle Jack and Blue Collar, who were both within striking distance on the final question. After a few minutes of deliberation, Depends snagged the final answer and hung on for the win. Uncle Jack got the final as well and took home second, with one of our new teams, the Kibbutzers, sneaking up the standings and taking third. Great debut performance! We’ll start next week with a question on The Simpsons! ~ Matt
