I will do all in my power to elevate trivia! Pour House Pub Trivia Thursday recap!
Pour House pub trivia hit you with a little Florence Nightingale action! I’m not one for oaths, generally, but I make exceptions for gals in bonnets! Check the recaps!
The scores and leaderboard flopped all over in our game of live trivia tonight at Bunker Sports Cafe in Leesburg; it was a nail biter till the end. It took a tiebreaker to settle the first category pick for next game and it was Cranius Maximus that came out ahead for all the marbles! The Gaza Strippers made a trip down here to play and took 2nd, and Jeffrey Dahmer’s House of Ribs rounded out the top tier with 3rd. I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and I’ll see you all back here on January 8, 2015! Our first category will be the Genesis album “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” ~ Ronnie
Our final game of trivia in 2014 was a blast Thursday night at Champion Billiards. What a year! And what a great evening to cap it all with. Thank you all so much for the well wishes, the delicious cookies, and all the love! I do wish you a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
The game! Wow! What a game it was! But anytime you have Cliffiord the Big Red Dog, Jim Beam and Cheech and Chong together…let’s face it…it’s off the chain! 🙂 Congrats to our Top 3! Master Debaters put on a fine display of bar trivia chops and earned the W for their efforts! Here are some shots of their smiley mugs:
When we return in 2015 we will have a couple of weeks before it all goes down at World Series 10!!! The big game baby! The decider! I am so excited to get that on! I do so love having those big ole game nights with all of our friends hanging out drinking and smack talking and playing some trivia! That goes down Jan. 31st. And don’t forget Pub Crawl 2015 the weekend prior on Jan. 24th! That’s always a blast!
I will miss ya on our Thursday trivia night for the next couple of weeks. Take a few and catch up on some Breaking Bad. That will be our opening question in 2015, courtesy of Master Debaters. Again, I wish you a very Happy and safe Holiday y’all! Be well…and I will see you in 2015! Love ya! dg 🙂
People seem to be leaving early for the holidays already BUT we still had a ragin’ game of trivia here at the Fish Market! Some familiar faces showed up tonight to give Two Birds One Stone a run for their money (they’ve won 2 in a row) but ALAS, they still could not be stopped taking down their 3rd victory in 3 weeks! 2nd place went to Children of the 80’s BUT they were over the team limit so they forfeit their prize to This We’ll Defend. 3rd prize will go to Chips n Salsa! Thanks guys! We’ll take next week off for the holidays and to cool down a bit but we are BACK starting January 1st! This gives us time to study our Japanese geography, which proved to be just as foreign as the country itself to most of us! I still love you all though! I’m gonna put on like 10 pounds this holiday season… I’m scared… Until January!!! 1st Place: Two Birds One Stone 2nd Place: This We’ll Defend 3rd Place: Chips n Salsa Next week’s category: Celebrity Guest Appearances on FRIENDS
What a great game to host before our week off for Christmas at Guido’s Speakeasy! I had my regulars and a few visiting teams as well going back and forth for the top 3 spots all night! I’m not sure why, but it seems the final question has been shaking up the top 3 a LOT lately, and tonight was no exception… Moving from 5th to 3rd tonight was Friends of Dick Johnson!! Moving into 2nd was T.N.C.!! I would like to welcome back to the winners circle your 1st place team, 3 People Who Have Never Been In My Kitchen!! We are OFF next Thursday( It being Christmas and all….) but when we come back after the New Year, the winners choice category chosen will be “Stephen Colbert”!! Happy Holidays to all our teams and I’ll see you back at Guido’s “next year”!! ~ Jon J
It was a nice holiday atmosphere here at Main Street, and my die hard players skipped shopping to be here. It was the closest game all year! Our first, second and third place teams were only separated by a single point each! In the end, past champs the Pharmers won out, The musical question threw a lot of teams, but lots of high scores on the board tonight. Wagers and bonus points are always important! No trivia on Christmas day, but we will take shot at playing on New Years Day, and see if anyone has recovered! Winner’s Choice: A Boy Named Sue
Quincy’s! What a bar trivia spot! You guys don’t mess around down here! I’ll admit I was worried when we started the night off with the technical issues we did, but once we got our game of pub quiz rolling, we got rolling! Highlights of the Night: In “Best-Wrong-Answer-of-the-Night”: I can wholly understand the Clara Barton guesses on the Nurse Oath question. Moreso than Aphrodite at least. Or my mother. In “Blame-the-Writers-not-the-Host”: I join the ranks of the confused teams when I say, whose idea was that list question?! That’s a lot of information to throw at people and expect them to process and regurgitate in 2 minutes! Sorry for a tough one guys! Outside observers would’ve thought that a weird remix of the Twist was playing inside the bar, as the common call all night was either “Louder!” or “Softer!” Guys, it’s a big place, I gotta make sure everyone can hear me! When it came down to it, the final needed a correct answer for the podium, and when the dust settled, we were set. Technically, Lowered Expectations took the place down tonight with a huge high score! However, they had too many people on their team to take the prize. Still, great game LE! Even then, we had a tiebreaker to settle 2nd and 3rd! with a tough break, 3rd went to Caged Wisdom! Good game guys, well played! Winning the tiebreaker, in 2nd came Blue Collar! Well done guys! Taking the official top spot tonight, I just Quizzed In My Pants! Congratulations guys, great game! Thank you all for putting up with me tonight, Quincy’s! You guys are a hoot and a half, and I hope you had as much fun as I did tonight! Matt will be back with you guys in the new year, as the next two weeks are Christmas and New Years respectively. When you do come back, your first round category will be University of Maryland Football! Study up guys, and have a great game! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Nappy New Years, all that jazz, and we’ll see you next time! Until then, Ian
