I think it’s officially summer – it is SCORCHING out there! Pour House Live Trivia Roundup

It is now officially the sticky, hot, gross part of summer.

I left my air conditioned house today, and it felt like a towel was draped over my head. Blergh.

Let’s hope for nicer weather for the Fourth!

Regardless of heat, though, Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday night is always packed to the brim with live trivia for you to check out!

Atlantic Grille – Urbana, MD

Impressionable questions and questionable impressions were the name of the game tonight in our round of bar trivia at Atlantic Grille in Urbana!

In tonight’s cranial exercises, we waxed poetic about samurais wearing nylon, Agatha Christie joining the Sandinistas, and the noble Sir Loin of Beef!

Strangers Have the Best Candy locked up first once again with Men & Pausers taking second and Baby Got Pratt rounding out third.

Special mention goes out to Momzilla for while they did not place, they were the only team to get the final question!

Keep your eyes open for a golden ticket because next week’s Winners’ Choice category will be “Eric is Charlie Bucket!” I’m hoping not to take that as an omen meaning that I’ll never act again (Peter Ostrum, if you’re reading this – no hard feelings 😛 )

See y’all next week!

Harleys, and hecklers and high-wire acts OH MY! Yes indeed…we had it all tonight at Bernies. And when it goes down live trivia style, anything can happen. It was bike week at the Cancun Cantina-Bernies complex, so we had some new faces out tonight for some fun, including the circus ladies and high wire artists working this week! ‘Twas great meeting all of you.

And what a game of live trivia it was! Slapsgiving maintained a tight lead over the pack until round four – which shook up the entire leader board. Between, Anatolia and Sirloin…it was ON going into the final.

And with a correct answer of “Hell’s Angels,” Team “Who the Hell is JFK” took down the win! “Hell” of a game there ladies and gents 🙂 I’d have snapped a nice shot, but my phone died.

2nd Place did go to Slapsgiving, who played a great game. Thinking about getting a game of “Masterpiece” working one of these nights 🙂

And rounding out the Top Three was the fine crew members of “Thinkers and Dreamers!” They put together a nice round Four and parlayed it into some $$$

Great times on this hot hump day my friends. I bid you all a wonderful weekend. And I hope to see ya next Wednesday at Bernies – we kick off with a question in the category of “Orioles Baseball.” Til then…be well 🙂 dg

Bennigan’s – Clarksburg, Maryland

Good game tonight at Bennigan’s. Murder on the Polar Express held the lead through three rounds but The Usual Suspects, after a short hiatus, took over the number one spot after four and snagged the final and the win! Murder missed the final and fell below the top three. Second was a tie between Janet and Spret. Spret sniped the tie breaker (exact year! haha) and took second place. Well played! Our Post Game Mini Game champion was Lauren from Team Janet, who proved that she has seen every film released since January 1st 2014. I’ll see you all next week!

1st Place: The Usual Suspects
2nd Place: Spret
3rd Place: Team Janet

Next week’s category: Gilbert Shelton

The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD

Underground was the place to be for live trivia tonight! We got back to basics and basics are a damn good time. I’ve missed the trash talk and heckling! I also missed the competition! Good lord, ties all over the place but it was all shifted out by the final… and Hells Bells (Or angels) it was a good final.

When the roar had died down I had the pleasure of awarding 3rd to Team Wednesday, 2md to a hard fighting yet too conservative Escapees and 1st went to Grab a straw! Happy birthday Wes and thanks for the nutella cupcake. 🙂

I will see you all next week for Simpsons Characters.

The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD

I had a great time meeting the folks at The Tavern tonight for pub quiz. There were plenty of lead changes to keep the night interesting. The final question was a make them or break them situation. All teams wagered high and for some it paid off and for some it didn’t.

Third place went to Olney The Lonely, Second was The Bad Role Models, and First went to Hammer Jacks who chose Cooking for their Winners Choice Category.

Thank you all for a great night! Tripp will back in action with you next Wednesday night!

Revolution Bar– Fairfax, Virginia

Teams braved the elements tonight to compete in bar trivia for the top spot at the Revolution Bar. Or maybe they were there to hear me trip over half my words as my tongue was rebelling against me – I dunno, it could go either way.

Either way, things we learned tonight:

I still have no idea how to properly pronounce teetotaler.

The teams agreed Japan-icana just doesn’t work like Americana, and should be stricken from the lexicon.

Debbie Does Downing Street would’ve made for a great Christie novel, according to team Liquor? We Hardly Knew Her!

After four brutal rounds, and quite a few lead changes, the final wreaked a bit of havoc on the standings, but we had a winner!

In third place, Mess & Jegg! Good game guys!

In second, Liquor? We Hardly Knew Her! Well played!

And in first, as a trio, and super-chill baby in tow, Movin On Up! Way to go guys, great game!

Movin On Up has chosen the Patrick Swayze-Keanu Reeves heist film, Point Break as the first round category for next week! Get watching!

Until then,
Ian

Nothing begins a night of trivia better than sitting for 45 minutes on the G.W. Parkway at a dead stop, but I’ve already digressed…  We did manage to start on time, and the usual crew joined us at T.J. Stone’s in Alexandria.  We had ourselves a very close game, but it was Reverse Polarity who snuck into the lead in round four.  Because of the tight field, they were forced to bet aggressively on the final question, but could not come up with the correct response.  So, it was Wee Baby Seamus stealing the win!  It’s their third win during the Summer Fling Season.  The B-58s took second, with Gone Squatchin’ in third.  Next week starts with a question on the film “Independence Day”!  ~ Matt

Independence Day Movie Trivia

Valley Grill – Middletown, MD

Man the teams descended on the Valley Grill Sports Bar for our Wednesday edition of bar trivia!

The final turned it all around and it was Ad Rock that took down the top prize! Team LaQueefa leaped into 2nd with a correct answer, and Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap had the same scenario for 3rd.

Our first category for next week is The Beastie Boys. Happy 4th!
