I Saw the Sign at Tuesday Trivia!

Tuesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 146 teams across 23 venues.

FIRST ROUND:

Tuesday’s game opened with a question concerning the chapter titles from this novel series:

The first round uncharacteristically featured two of the most difficult bonus questions of the night.  First, we doled out bonus points to just 11% of the field on a Three Clues question concerning pottery.  At the close of the round, only seven teams knew that the Philadelphia 76ers hold an NBA record (recently tied by the Spurs) by reaching the playoffs in 22 consecutive seasons.  As a result, Tuesdays opening round did not yield any perfect scores.

SECOND ROUND:

Tuesday’s audio question featured three songs that topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart on this date in various years: “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, “Informer” by Snow, and “Joy to the World” by Three Dog Night.  Next, we discussed the funniest lines from this classic comedy film:

After traversing the Volga River and exploring the surface of Mars, we looked at three “Good” TV series: “The Good Doctor”, “The Good Place”, and “The Good Fight”.  Two teams earned a perfect second round score: Happy Little Trees (Charlie’s) and Wingardium Triviosa (Tommy Joe’s).

HALFTIME:

After each of the first two rounds proved to be more difficult than expected, Tuesday’s halftime page certainly lightened the mood at our venues.  Thanks to the topics of desserts and non-fiction book subtitles, just over half of our teams recorded a perfect score, as we saw the highest average score of the season at 19.1 points.  These were your top Tuesday teams at the halftime break:

THIRD ROUND:

Tuesday’s third round topics included Manx cats, the Norwegian play “Peer Gynt”, and the Oscar-nominated film work of this actress:

Collectively, the third round featured the easiest set of bonus questions, as each of the three questions yielded success rates over 20%.  With that, seven teams notched a perfect score of 36 third round points.

FOURTH ROUND:

We began the final round with the most difficult bonus question of the night.  Only six teams earned bonus points by knowing that Helmut Kohl served the second-longest tenure as Chancellor of Germany (or West Germany).  Later, we looked at the songs of the Temptations, the works of Michael Crichton, and the “honors” bestowed upon these two stars:

None of our teams posted a perfect score in Tuesday’s final round.  Here are your highest scoring teams after four rounds of play:

TUESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (53.7% success rate):

–> Despite being about 200 years old, which language is the third-most studied language in the U.S., after Spanish and French?

Just over half of the field responded correctly with American Sign Language.  Congratulations to the four teams that recorded a Perfect 21 on Tuesday night by answering every wagering question correctly: Pearls of Wisdom (Shuckin’ Shack), Quad Squad (Casa Rico), Breadsticks (Upper Deck), and Wingardium Triviosa (Tommy Joe’s).  Here is your final Tuesday leaderboard:
