How fast can you solve a Rubik’s Cube? Pour House Pub Trivia Thursday recap!
Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday packed people in five venues for some live trivia action!
I can’t solve a Rubik’s Cube, so watching this kid do it kind of makes me feel ashamed.
How fast can you solve it?! Check out the game recaps.
Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia
We were nice and dry inside as what could be called a Monsoon was pounding it down outside here at Bunker in Leesburg, I mean the kind of rain you hear roaring on from the ceiling! Anyway, here are the scores from tonight’s mayhem:
Cranius Maximus in 1st
Thundercats in 2nd
Thoroughly Confused in 3rd
Our first category for next week is The Confederacy.

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
Same day, different host! Yes, it’s true – I’m not Denny. What’s true however is that you all played a great game that was a lot of fun to watch, especially the ending! In a tiebreaker for 3rd it was Just good enough and Power Vac.
You were both off by about a million people and scary close to each others guesses- thank god for decimal points! Just Good enough were just god enough and managed to sneak a 3rd place win. 2nd went to the surprised Moose and Squirrel but no one were more surprised than Southpaw fish when I announced them in 1st! What a fun one to announce.
Thanks for letting me be your substitute teacher 😉 Denny will be back next week and you will start out with Djibouti, Africa. Now that’s a fun one!

Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia
Tonight in Alexandria, we not only set the record for total teams at Fish Market, but ALSO we set a record for MOST TEAMS I’VE EVER HAD AS A HOST! Can you say rager?
It was PACKED TONIGHT with 17 teams in about a 10 by 8 foot room with alcohol and trivia. Hilarity ensued. I was actually surprised at how easily the game flowed and how well everyone was following the rules and the directions of the game. I had more of my veteran teams screwing up the flow than the newbies! Can I please get you all to come back next week? Thanks!
So, in a 17 team field, only one team could win. Here’s how the game went. Question of the night honors goes to our Mountain question! A good number of teams stopped listening after “volcano in Washington” and jotted down Mt Saint Helen’s and ran up with the big fat 9 wager all ready to go and locked it in! Unfortunately, there was more to the question. Washington’s highest peak is Mt. Rainer, and yes, it is classified as a stratovolcano by the experts. Sorry if you fell victim to the volcanic trap we set up for you. It was dirty, but then again, it was also … hot? Like lava, get it? Oh god I need a real job!
Anyways! Going into the final, we had 2 Birds 1 Stone holding the lead while newcomers calling themselves “3 People Who Have Never Been in Cliff Clavin’s Kitchen” weren’t fair off. 3rd place was held by Fish Market veterans You’re Killing Me Smalls. Though, we all know the importance of that one final question. The get-rate on the final shot around a third.
Some of the top ranked teams fell back after this one. Here’s what the game looked like. 3rd place tonight, with a correct response on the final, went to Bill (playing by himself at first, but joined by some friends near the end) in an unexpected comeback from behind to nail a prize spot! Congrats! 2nd place went to another team that had fallen behind, but a team that is no stranger to the top 3 places, Welcome to You’re Doom! 1st place tonight, 3 in a row now for 2 Birds One Stone, with a correct response on the final, and just a hell of a game! Awesome times, keep those numbers GROWING! Back in a week. Toodles! (toodles? Dear God!)
1st Place: 2 Birds One Stone
2nd Place: Welcome to You’re Doom
3rd Place: Bill
Next week: Famous Michaels
Guido’s – Frederick, MD
Old school teams came from the past to duke it out with the current season champions.
Boner of a Lonely Fart ran the game from pillar to post with almost enough points to not have to answer the final question. Ferret finger, season 1 champs, staged a late game comeback to barely beet Trivia Team 2 – Electric Boogaloo (last season’s champs) and come in 2nd and Electric Boogalo took 3rd to round out the top 3.
Next week’s first round question is triple 50-50: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or The Thing from Fantastic Four!
Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD
It may have been raining but it was On FIRE at Main Street tonight.
6 team, the mental brain power was surging. We had a real challenge for the win, with only 1 point different Anul Bum Covers maintained their 4 week streak – their challenger What the Shuck put on a good game, and new comers Don’t look at us stole third. However coming in at half time the Lopez family showed their trivia skills!
Next week we will be focusing on the Founding Fathers for our winner’s choice.
Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland
What a finish at Quincy’s tonight! The John Lithgow Fan Club was cruising through the first four rounds, holding a comfortable (but not a runaway) lead on the field. The final was a doozy, as only four teams came up with the correct response. Among the teams that missed were ALL FOUR of the top teams, meaning that it was fifth-place Lowered Expectations, who jumped the leaders with a correct response for the win! Great job! JFLC managed to hold onto second with The Crew landing a surprise third place finish. Next week we begin with a question on the TV show “Big Brother”!
