Have You Heard the Buzz About Tuesday Trivia?
Tuesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 92 teams across 13 venues:
FIRST ROUND:
The difficulty of Tuesday’s opening round questions certainly were a notch higher than normal, especially in regards to the bonus questions. We began with a question on the Adam Sandler film “Mr. Deeds”, but only 17% of our teams knew that Gary Cooper had starred in the original version:
Likewise, only 17% of our teams earned bonus points on our Three Clues question, which dealt with the political career of William Howard Taft. After concluding with a question on the upcoming revival of “Double Dare”, we did not see any of our teams earn a perfect opening round.
SECOND ROUND:
Tuesday’s audio question featured clips from the songs “Thunder Road” by Bruce Springsteen, “The Thunder Rolls” by Garth Brooks, and “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons. We also discussed the invention of the air conditioner, the Statue of Liberty, amnd this NBA legend:
Fat, Drunk, and Stupid (White Horse Tavern) earned the only perfect score of the second round.
HALFTIME:
Soft drink logos and obscure world capitals were the subjects of Tuesday’s halftime page. Not surprisingly, the field performed much better on the top half of the page. Though we saw several teams notch 19 points, none of our teams could manage a perfect score, as the overall average came in at 15.4 points. Here are Tuesday’s highest first half scores:
- Pax (Cugini’s): 87
- Wiseacres (Champion Billiards): 86
- Balls Out (Quincy’s South): 84
- Wingardium Triviosa (Quincy’s South): 84
- Tokyo Ra (Shuckin’ Shack): 84
THIRD ROUND:
Tuesday’s second half began with a three-part question on actors who won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. We also looked at World Series champions of the 21st century, and this superstitious southern dish:
The third round yielded two perfect scores: Tokyo Ra (Shuckin’ Shack) and Beware the Middle Stall (The Block).
FOURTH ROUND:
After opening the final round with a toga party and a look at igneous rocks, we asked what proved to be the most difficult wagering question of the night:
–> Less than 500 miles from the North Pole, Kaffeklubben Island is the northernmost point of land on Earth. This extreme point is part of a territory belonging of which member of the United Nations?
The wording was quite particular in this question, as Kaffeklubben Island is located just off the coast of Greenland, which is a terriotory of Denmark. Only 26% of teh field earned points here. We closed the final round wqith a question on this recent fad:
Three teams ran the table in the final round: My Favorite Team (Champion Billiards), Wingardium Triviosa (Quincy’s South), and Tokyo Ra (Shuckin’ Shack). Here are Tuesday’s top scores after four rounds of play:
- Tokyo Ra (Shuckin’ Shack): 162
- Pax (Cugini’s): 157
- Wiseacres (Champion Billiards): 156
- Balls Out (Quincy’s South): 155
- Wingardium Triviosa (Quincy’s South): 155
TUESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (43.6% success rate):
–> Among the teams in the four major professional North American sports leagues (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL), which is the only team named for an invertebrate animal?
The correct answer we were looking for was the Charlotte Hornets. None of our teams earned the Perfect 21 tonight qith correct answers on all wagering questions. These were your top Tuesday teams:
