Happy Veterans Day from Pour House Trivia!
With Veterans Day upon us, we would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has ever put on a uniform and served in America’s armed forces. I know that a few of our regular players are veterans, and the events of the past week definitely prove that we should very thankful to these people for helping establish some of the freedoms that some of us might take for granted. We did manage to pop in a few Veterans Day themed questions, including the final. Let’s see how our teams handled these queries:
THURSDAY’S STATS AND FACTS (54 teams across six venues):
–> Highest Overall Score: Unemployed Hand Models (Quincy’s) with 175
–> Highest Score after Round 4: Unemployed Hand Models (Quincy’s) with 163
–> Highest First Half Score: Comfortably Dum (Champion Billiards) with 92
–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagers and final): Blue Collar (Quincy’s), Clever Team Name (Quincy’s), Your Mom (Bunker Sports), Cranius Maximus (Bunker Sports)
–> Overall, the field seemed to be well informed on war movies, as 20% of our teams scored a perfect 20 on the halftime round, with the average coming in at 17.2. The 6-4-2 question proved to be a bit tougher, with only seven teams earning six points by knowing that Angiomyolipomas, Fraley syndrome, and Glomerular Tubular Reflux are all conditions that affect the human kidneys.
TONIGHT’S FINAL QUESTION (45.5% success rate):
–> Who is the only former U.S. President to have earned a Purple Heart? (you’ll find the answer in this blog)

Champion Billiards in Frederick, MD
Champions! We had a quick one tonight due to the birds being up on the big screen, football may not be my sport of choice but who am I to stand between you and your ravens?!
Our write up is going to go much like our game was- short, sweet and right to the point. Also learned tonight that you really do listen when I speak! Who knew! Make one little Debbie Hor(ror) film joke and it’s all down hill from there…
After our self sacrificing final (Many thanks to all of our veterans out there!) it was Just Good Enough in 3rd, Power Vac in 2nd (They have an awesome new bonus category system… ) and the visiting gentlemen of Comfortably Dum locked it up tonight! Good game!

Bunker Sports Cafe in Leesburg, VA
It was a great night of trivia once again here at Bunker in Leesburg, and we had a few new faces as well to start off the game! The teams tonight were pretty sharp with their answers with the only hiccup seeming to be knowledge of reasonably obscure U.S. political parties. Thanks again, and here is the recap:
First Place: Your Mom
Second Place: Indians
Third Place: Thundercats

Links at Challedon in Mount Airy, MD
Tonight at the links of Challedon we had a close game that came down to the wire! We had a lot of strategic play especially with the final but what really helped the teams determine their destiny in the game was the the final question on the night! Only a few teams managed to secure the correct answer of John F. Kennedy! The strategic wagering landed Balls Out in first tonight, with The Sharpies in second, and Greens In Regulation in third!

Fish Market in Alexandria, VA
A weird dynamic here at the Fish Market… One week we have a packed house of 15 teams, all regular, veteran teams… The NEXT week, well we have the same number of teams BUT every one is a NEW TEAM! It’s crazy how much turnover we get here. Nonetheless, it’s always a RAGER and always jam-packed full of teams ready to lock it in; tonight was NO exception!
Our one regular team that came out tonight was You’re Killing Me Smalls, usually among the top finishers on any given night. They seemed to be at half a squad tonight and failed to dominate in normal fashion, though they were able to keep it competitive, dancing near the top for the duration of the game. Tonight’s big hitters were a new duo calling themselves Tear Stained Pant Suit who snuck into the lead after Uncle Tito (our halftime leaders) missed their 5 point bonus in the 3rd round.
The 6-4-2 shook a bunch of teams up, only 1 team picking up the 6 with five teams MISSING on that clue, and not many picking it up after the 4. Uncle Tito picked up 4 here, potentially needing a 6 get after dropping that 3rd round bonus. They were fighting back looking to reclaim the lead but just ran out of time. Tear Stained Pant Suit led going into the final AND got the final CORRECT, locking up a win on their first outing at trivia night! Uncle Tito takes 2nd place, Smalls finished in 3rd. We’re back next week for more PHT! See ya then!

Guido’s in Frederick, MD
We had a GREAT turnout at our Thursday night game at Guido’s Speakeasy this week! And I’m sure I’ve said it before, but the teams there are always so fun to watch play and talk some friendly smack with each other (although sometimes I feel that they love talking trash to me JUST a bit more… 🙂 They game had a lot of lead changes throughout the night, but after the final question was answered we had Unathletico Madrid finish 3rd, T.N.C. took 2nd, and back in the 1st place seat was Spitters are Quitters!! They decided on the movie “Hocus Pocus” as next weeks winners choice category so study up and come join the party next Thursday night at Guido’s!!!
