Happy Thanksgiving from Pour House Trivia! Wednesday Recap!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday eased you into your turkey day gorging with a trio of live games designed to tickle your funny bones and wrinkle your brainy bits!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day everyone! Eat too much, watch too much football, and have a fantastic day!

Check out the games!

Applebees – Frederick, MD

Happy Thanksgiving Eve to everybody! Applebee’s was absolutely packed today, not even the snow could keep us down. I always love it whenever the combination of three words AND three birds, the turducken, gets mentioned; which always seems to come up every year around Thanksgiving.

That had to be my favorite question on the day, because it gave me a chance to do a John Madden impression (Here’s a guy who, when he puts his glasses on, he can see better!) if only I had a telestrator though.  In other news, there was a trivia game!  The game was crowded at the top for most of the night, but in the 4th round Three People Who Have Never Been In My Kitchen really turned on the afterburners and left everybody behind, almost securing a runaway victory.  In second was Brain Freeze managing to get the final question correct to leapfrog a few teams, and in third was One Night Stand by one point.  Nice game everybody!

Next week’s opening category is 13th Century Popes, courtesy of Three People.  Guess it’s time to study up on the men in the funny hats, fun times.  Again, have a happy and safe holiday everybody, I’ll see you again next week!  Hope you all settle down and have a nice Turducken for dinner!

Barefoot Bernies – Hagerstown, MD

I bid you all and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving. In between turkey and stuffing leftovers, grab an episode or two of “The Soprano’s” – as that is what the first category will be in 2 weeks at the game. Be well my friends…see you soon. DG

SOPRANOS TRIVIA MARYLAND

Bennigan’s – Clarksburg, Maryland

I had a wonderful time filling in for Bill tonight during my first visit to Clarksburg.  I got to meet a lot of new teams, as they squeezed in one last night of trivia before the holiday.  Planet of the Dopes played a great first half, leading after for the break for the first time ever (according to them anyway), but they mixed up their Raymond Burr lawyers, and faltered in round three.

In the end, Uncle Jack was able to extend their lead heading into the final question, and despite a rather conservative wager, they were able to take down another win.  My Favorite Team jumped a couple of spots to take second, with Anderson Cooper?  I Hardly Know Her! rounding out the top three.  Mr. Patschak returns next week with a question on Nuclear Reactors.  Thanks again!  ~ Matt

The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD

We will start out with Georgia Tech Football.  Drink, sing and be merry – I will see you in two weeks. Sam

The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD

We will start the game off with O.T.L.s winners choice category, “Turkey“. (The country, not the animal!) Have a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving everyone, and I’ll see you back here in Olney in 2 weeks for trivia!! ~ Jon J [Editor’s note: This is not the country of Turkey, but rather a delicious looking fowl. We thought it was prettier to look at!

 Turkey Trivia Pub Trivia Maryland

Revolution Bar – Fairfax, Virginia

Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone! We celebrated in style at the Revolution Bar: with stiff competition and pub trivia of course!

Highlights of the night:

The award for “Best Wrong Answer of the Night”: unfortunately Planes, Trains, and Automobiles was NOT directed by Michael Bay. If it had been, the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles would all have blown up throughout the movie!

The award for “Close but No Cigar”: Peter, while a GREAT ruler, was not THE Great we were looking for. So close!

The final saw the top three teams within three points! 136-135-134. I love a close game!

The final caused a last second shake-up, and when the dust cleared, the podium stood thus:

In third place, Mess and Jegg! The defensive wager was key, keeping them in the top three! Good game guys!

In second place, the Del Rey Dummies! Great job guys!

In first place though, jumping up with a correct answer, came Movin on Up! Congrats on the come from behind win guys, great game!

Movin on Up has decided to go with the tv show Friends for their first round category next week, so get studying over some turkey tomorrow, and we’ll see you next time!

Until then,
Ian
