Happy Halloween from Pour House Trivia! Thursday recap!
Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday night packed in six games of live trivia to whet your appetite for a night of candy, caramel apples and trick or treating! Or maybe a night of horror movies – we don’t discriminate! Check out the games and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia
Another wild night of live trivia at Bunker Sports Cafe in Leesburg, here is how this game went down! Your Mom shocked the crowd with a correct final answer and a huge leap into 1st! Cake or Death held on strong and finished in 2nd, and Voodoo played a great game to finish in 3rd. Happy Halloween to you all, and see you next week where our first category will be Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV series! ~ Ronnie
Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
Jam packed, like a good candy sack after a hard night’s work of trick-or-treating – this was Champions trivia night Thursday night in Frederick, MD. All of my Thursday night friends were out and about shaking a leg on the eve of Halloween 2014! And that set of questions…wooh! It was like navigating a haunted house – freakies jumping out around every corner, walls of mirrors jostling with your well being, and of course me and that chainsaw incident (ok maybe not…but it woulda been fun…maybe next year?) 😉
Good stuff my friends, and I wish all of you a Happy Halloween 2014. I still can’ believe how fast this year is cruising by. At least we did learn this year that a piece of candy corn is only about 6 calories – so eat only one and its all good 🙂
Congratulations to our Top 3 tonight who earned a few extra World Series points and a little Halloween loot! It was a nail biter to the end. That final changed it all up. What better way to end a Halloween night of trivia than with “The Scream.”
Also some props go to Power Vacuum and Stormy Bongo Adventure for a 4th and 5th Place showing, respectively! Nice job y’all and playing as a trio and duo no less! Awesome!
Watch out for the goblins and freaky deakies this evening everyone. Have fun and be safe whatever you get into!
Happy Halloween…if you decide to stay in and chillax, maybe watch a movie – Princess Bride is a good one! And it will also be next Thursday’s round 1 question 1, courtesy of teh lovely ladies of Vitrifiers!
Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia
A new team entered the arena tonight, calling themselves Smells Like Fish. They played very well for their first time here and have a victory to show for it! Congrats guys. Hoping you’ll make it a regular thing to come out and kick our butts! 2nd place went to Boner Garage, 3rd place going to Gone Squatchin’. Happy Halloween everybody, we’ll be back next Thursday, same time, for more trivia action! Until then! 1st Place: Smells Like Fish 2nd Place: Boner Garage 3rd Place: Gone Squatchin’ Next week’s category: 1980’s Pro Wrestling
Guido’s – Frederick, MD
Tonight had to be one of the craziest nights of trivia I’ve ever hosted at Guido’s Speakeasy! EVERY team was up and down in the standings all night! (I guess it was a tough game?) After the final, this is how it broke down. Finishing 3rd tonight was a visiting team, Multiple Scoregasms! Taking 2nd was Stink Floyd! Winning 1st for a second week in a row was 3 People Who Have Never Been in My Kitchen! (and they were in 5th at the start of round 4!) They chose “Ethics in Gaming Journalism” for next weeks winners choice category(have fun with THAT), so study up and get back in to Guido’s next Thursday night!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! ~ Jon J
Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD
A fun Halloween eve here in Bel Air at the MSOH! No costumes, but we had some veteran teams, and a few new teams. Bonus points and careful wagering won the day. Team Mumbo, a newbie beat out vets in Clever Team Name by a single point on the final question! It was OK because Mumbo was here to celebrate a birthday, and had a blast while playing. See you next week where we’ll start with Republicans. Maynard
Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland
So… Apparently I was the ONLY person in the room who actually played Mad Libs at a party, so the designation of it as a ‘party game’ applies to just me and… the people who actually created it. Obviously, the rest of you are not interested in following directions.
Anyway, aside from that incident, the rest of the game went well. We actually had a three-way tie heading into the final question, and after the final wiped out one of those teams, it came down to a tiebreaker between I Just Quizzed My Pants and Not as Smart As We Look. Of course, the tiebreaker fittingly had to with Mad Libs, but it was I Just Quizzed My Pants who landed the win, polishing off a very impressive comeback by erasing a ten-point deficit during the second half. Not As Smart As We look took second, with Erotic Friend Fiction (pictured below) visiting us from up the road and taking third. Next week begins with a question on Alphabetical World Capitals! ~ Matt
