Groundhog Day with Pour House Pub Trivia! Monday recap!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday followed that pesky groundhog seeing his shadow and dooming us to SIX more wintry weeks!

Don’t worry though, gang. As always, we’ll be there to keep you sane and your brains working hard!

Check out the recaps.

Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA

We kicked off Season 11 with a bang up game of live trivia here at DRP in Alexandria, what a fun group!

World Series Champions High School Prom kept rolling with a win tonight, with Del Ray Dummies taking down 2nd. MSC rallied strong in the 2nd half to capture 3rd.

Our first category for next week is Chess.

Greene Turtle – Hagerstown, MD

Wow, today the Turtle was PACKED with teams wanting to play some pub trivia. I don’t know if they were trying to get over the Superbowl hangover (I can’t BELIEVE they didn’t hand it off to Lynch, but that’s a whole different thing) but I was glad to see everybody come out. We had a good game and even got momentarily interrupted to sing happy birthday to an awesome little guy who turned two years old today (Happy birthday Renny!).

The game played out with some close scores throughout, but a tough final really tripped some teams up. In third place was The Iron Fists, who were in second up until the final and played a generally solid game. Nice job guys! In second we had a team snipe the final, being the only one to do so, which caused them to leapfrog about half the field. Way to go Ramrod! Our winners, starting off Pour House Season 11 with a bang, was Cotton Candy who won their third in a row with some strategic betting! Nice work! Next week, we open with another geography category courtesy of Cotton Candy, this time it will be rivers of the world! Get to studying those maps!

Until next time,
-Chad

il Forno – Frederick, MD

The groundhog saw his shadow today, giving us 6 more weeks of winter. Though it’s cold outside, it’s getting warm in here as we start Season 11 of Pour House Trivia!

Tonight’s crowd seemed to be filled with most of our regular teams returning for the new season of trivia, and we had a couple of new teams join us too (including tonight’s champions)! I’d like to offer a thank you to all the teams for putting up with my quips, anecdotes, and other random things I feel the need to say on the microphone; fair warning, it will NOT get better during the season. Hopefully, you’ve all fallen in love with my little quirks 🙂

That being said, tonight’s game was a fierce one! I’m with Sarah (formerly I’m with Geoff) led for most of the game but a new team by the name of Death to All Deer squeaked into the lead just before the final question! After completely sweeping the bar, the rankings did not budge at all and we crowned Death to All Deer the inaugural champions of Season 11 at il forno! Great game guys! I’m with Sarah took 2nd, followed by Chicken McThuggets in 3rd. It plans to be cold for another month or so, so come back out and join us for hot pizza, fun times, and warm hearts (yes, I’m referring to the love I have for all my teams). Until next week!

1st Place: Death to All Deer
2nd Place: I’m with Sarah
3rd Place: Chicken McThuggets

Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD

I got my first taste of the Roasthouse Pub’s competition tonight filling in for Ian. He’s got some good teams here on Mondays and I hope they thought I was at least an “okay” replacement for him tonight.

We had some shuffling of the top 3 spots throughout most of the game, and of course I had the fun of having to use a tie-breaker to decide my top 3 winners tonight my first time here! After the dust settled this is how tonight ended: Unfortunately losing the tie-breaker but winning 3rd at least was Two Fingers Worth!! Winning the tie-breaker for 2nd place was Better Late Than Pregnant!! I know I’ve heard this teams name MANY times at the World Series, and they are the first season 11 game winners here at Roasthouse, Multiple Scoregasms!!

They chose a Triple 50/50 for next weeks winners choice, George Michael (singer) or George Michael Bluth(character from Arrested Development)!

Don’t worry teams, Ian will be back next week to care care of you, but my thanks for being so nice to the new guy(they didn’t throw anything at me ONCE) and good luck to you all next Monday night at Roasthouse Pub!!

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA

Season XI is off and running in Arlington!  Much thanks to the three different teams from Spider Kelly’s that ventured up to Hagerstown this past Saturday for World Series X.  I’m glad you were all back to get back into the swing of things on Monday nights.  Things got off to an interesting start, as last week’s winners, Eleven is a Prime Number, slipped up a bit on their Winner’s Choice question.  They would be playing catch up all night.  It was an extremely close game through three rounds, as our top teams were separated by just a few points.  Round Four saw Eleven is a Prime Number not only get back into the lead, but pull away from the pack, and they were even able to hold on to the win even as only one team picked up the correct response on the final.  Great job!  She Left started off the season strong with a second place finish, while the Rocket Surgeons took third.  Next week, our game begins with a question on Modern Yemen.  ~ Matt
