Great tunes on Thursday from Pour House Pub Trivia!

Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday helped you through the day with some animal tunes, and a whole bunch more!

Check it all out, folks.

The Blue Parrott – St. Petersburg Beach, Florida

Another exciting night on the waterfront at the Blue Parrott. Nolo Contenders stole the show, having the first place spot throughout the night. The Wonks were 1 point behind following half time, and the Flying Vin Aerials were in third, only 6 points behind. The Nolo Contenders looked like they were going to run away with the game, but it was the Bandits who had a perfect second half, jumping into second, only 11 points of the Nolo Contenders going into the final and reducing the runaway.

It was still anybody’s game into the final, especially for the second and third place prize; every team was within 8 points of eachother. Final results: Wonks just missed the 3rd place prize by 1 point and the Bandits and The Flying Vin Aerials had to go into the tie breaker. The Flying Vin Aerials ended up getting the second place prize after a night that left all the teams thinking they “Could’a been a [Nolo] Contender.”

The Nolo Contenders have chosen the category of Classic Board Games for next week.

Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia

We pushed that game along tonight down here at Bunker, thanks to all the teams for helping me get ‘er done before tonight’s football game really got going. Remember Season 12 starts next week!

Thundercats in 2nd

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

As one season came to an end – the summer fling 2015 – and an NFL Season kicked off tonight, we put the blitz of trivia game on at Champions tonight. Bada bing, bada bang, bada boom. No sugar coating, and only very minimal level of my corny jokes. 100 minutes in and out and done in time for kick off. And in that blitz, we put down one helva final for our Summer Fling, Champions style!

The first half was all about Vitrifiers. The second half was all about Power Vacuum. But then…that final hit and it was all about anyone’s game! It’s always interesting to watch a massive Top flip flop go down on trivia night! And that’s exactly how it went down – wish we coulda said the same thing for the NFL game! Congrats to our Top 3 finishers. That was a tough field of trivia teams to navigate through. A Top slot was well earned tonight, for sure! PROPS!

Think I am putting in a vote for “Category Name of the Year,” for the “Things You Might Put in Your Mouth” category. Riiiiiicooooooooollaaaaaaa…

RICOLA

My friends! I’d like to thank all of you for a fantastic summer! It was my pleasure to host the games for you this summer. I wish all of you the best of luck on Sept. 19th for the Summer Fling finals! Remember…there is no trivia next Thursday at Champions. We are back in action on the 24th for the SEASON 12 OPENER! We will kick that game off with some “Computer Programming” trivia.

COMPUTER PROGRSAMMING

Have a great weekend everyone! DG 🙂

Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia

Tonight was not only the beginning of the NFL season BUT ALSO the beginning of Season 12 of PHT here in VA! Lots of teams coming out tonight to join us for this opener! Everyone playing tonight earned points toward the WS game at the end of the season, let’s see how it turned out! First off, question of the night.

I’m deeming tonight’s question of the night the Audio question. The category tonight was “Birds”, meaning each music group had the name of a bird in its title. Most everyone got Counting Crows but after that it got a bit tougher. About half of the teams remembered A Flock of Seagulls and their hit “I Ran (So Far Away)” and NO ONE knew the old group made famous by their hit “Earth Angel” (as featured in Back to the Future). That would be The Penguins! No one coming up with that one! Would’ve been a deep cut! A good song though; well, I like it.

Two Birds One Stone came out firing tonight and held the lead most of the game, a lead that would NOT be diminished even after the final question! Congrats to them taking down the first win of the season! 2nd place went to Oscar Meyer, playing as a duo, and 3rd place to You’re Killing Me Smalls! Great game all. Good luck to those of you playing in the Summer Fling Tournament THIS SATURDAY! I’ll see everyone else next week! Until then 😉

1st Place: Two Birds One Stone
2nd Place: Oscar Meyer
3rd Place: You’re Killing Me Smalls

Next week: Baby Showers

Guido’s – Frederick, MD

We had a real back and forth kinda trivia game this Thursday night at Guido’s Speakeasy. The coveted top 3 spots seemed to change team names almost every round! And the final question of the night, once again, was a blessing AND a curse, depending on which team you asked!

So once the dust settled, this was the top 3: Being the only team to answer the final question correctly and moving from 5th to 3rd was a new team that’s excited for the start of season 12, Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog! 2nd place was Trivia Team 2: Electric Boogaloo!! And back in winners lane for the last game of the Summer Fling was T.N.C.!!! The first official winner’s choice selection for season 12 will be – wait for it – Mississippi History! I know, I know.

I felt the same way you do now, by just reading this, as when they told me that this was their w.c. question after the game at Guido’s!! Good luck to all my teams that made it to the Summer Fling finals on the 19th, and I’m looking forward to starting the all new Season 12, since everyone is beginning with a clean slate once again!! I’ll see ya’ll next Thursday night at Guido’s Speakeasy!!!

Lake Linganore Association – New Market, MD

Live trivia was awesome tonight under the tent at Lake Linganore! Always nice to see new faces as we battle it out for the top spot! Tonight’s game took all kinds of twists and turns, and the final question threw the entire game on its ear and completely changed the top three!

Comfortably Dumb came from behind to take first place with Faking Bad and newcomers The Polys rounding out third! Next week’s winners’ choice category will be Keanu Reeves movies, so study up! Don’t worry, the question won’t be about The Day The Earth Stood Still because I wouldn’t wish the experience of watching that movie on my worst enemy 😛

Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD

I got a chance to fill in for Natalie at Main Street Oyster House in Bel Air, and we had a great crowd of regular teams battling it out for two hours.  The story of the night was Anal Bum Covers, who led wire-to-wire and had an insurmountable lead heading into the final question!  Lucky for them as they would not have had the correct answer on that last question, but our other top two teams did, and so the final standings included Il Bocca Al Lupo in second with Black Dog jumping a few teams to take third.  Natalie returns next week for the start of Season XII!  ~ Matt

Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland

Quincy’s returns next week, September 17th, with an EARLIER START TIME!  Sign-up with Matt at 6:00pm.  See you then!
