Great Minds Think Alike at Weekend Trivia!

Last weekend’s games welcomed 14 teams at three venues.  An impressive performance by one of our regular teams put an end to a massive winning streak:

FIRST HALF:

Our first round was a breeze last weekend, as five of our 14 teams stormed out of the gate with a perfect score.  The second round began with our audio question, quizzing our teams on this TV theme song (complete with sound effects):

The most difficult bonus question of the first half was asked in the form of an early answer bonus on a multiple choice question:

–> In the early 2000s, which actor appeared in the lead role in two separate films that collectively won consecutive Oscars for Best Picture?

Only two of our teams earned bonus points by forgoing the multiple choice and turning in this correct response:

Russell Crowe GladiatorRussell Crowe Beautiful Mind

Yes, that’s Russell Crowe starring in the films “Gladiator” and “A Beautiful Mind”.  None of our teams were able to sweep the second round.  Three teams notched the top score of 19 points on the halftime page (which featured music videos), but with a strong second round, it was Smarty Pants (Belles’ Sports Bar) that led all weekend teams with 86 points at the break.

SECOND HALF:

The third round kept our teams up-to-date on some of the more recent film and TV viewing options, as we discussed the special guest stars appearing on the current season of “Shark Tank”, as well as the most recent release from the mind of Woody Allen.  In the final round, we asked about the duets recorded by this musical couple:

Garth Brooks Trisha Yearwood

We closed the final round with our nightly Three Clues question:

CLUE1: A term meaning a carefree or spontaneous adventure.

CLUE 2: Any of the one hundred species of small birds of the Alaudidae family.

Most of the field waited for the third and final clue, which did not help everyone, as it referenced this actress from “Saved From By the Bell”:

About half of our teams scored bonus points with Lark (Voorhies).  We saw just one perfect score in the second half this weekend as Smarty Pants (Belles’ Sports Bar) notched 36 points in the final round on Saturday.  Here are the top  weekend scores after the final round:

FINAL QUESTION (33.3% success rate):

–> At the address of 1 Hacker Way in Menlo Park, California, you’ll find the global headquarters of this company founded in 2004.  For your wager, name this company which currently employs about 23,000 people.

Exactly one-third of our teams answered correctly with Facebook.  We did not see any teams earn the Perfect 21 this weekend.  Here are your top overall scores from this past weekend:
