Last weekend’s games of Pour House Trivia welcomed 39 teams across four venues:

FIRST HALF:

Opening round topics from last weekend included Burton snowboards, the Ring of the Fisherman, and the comic book villain that was created as a result of this (bizarre) advertising campaign:

Our weekend audio questions featured foreign language cover versions and songs played in reverse, both of which proved to be easy gets for our teams.  The most difficult wagering question of this weekend’s first half was asked in the form of a Last Word / First Word question on Saturday:

–> Which three-word name would you have if the so-called “king of the dinosaurs” was also the first player ever drafted by the Charlotte Hornets?

Only four of our Saturday teams responded correctly with Tyrannosaurus Rex Chapman.  Across the board, the first round yielded eight perfect scores, while Irish Beer Mafia (Pretzel & Pizza Creations) notched the only perfect score of the second round.

HALFTIME:

The weekend halftime pages included topics such as fictional robots from films and TV series, as well as celebrities who have served jail time.  Overall, we saw four perfect scores and an overall average of 15.9 points.  Here are your highest scoring weekend teams at the halftime break:

In the second half, our Friday teams dealt with this teen drama:

Meanwhile, our Saturday teams were quizzed on topics such as World Series MVPs, the work of Gilbert and Sullivan, and the biographical film “Great Balls of Fire!”.  The most intriguing question of the weekend asked in Friday’s final round:

–> Name any two of the three U.S. states who two-letter postal codes contain a letter that is worth at least eight points in the standard American version of Scrabble.

Only three Friday teams picked up bonus points with all three correct answers: Arizona (AZ), Texas (TX), and New Jersey (NJ).  None of our teams were able to secure a perfect round score during this weekend’s second half.  Here are your highest scoring weekend teams after four rounds of play:

FRIDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (4.0% success rate):

–> The longest land border shared by two nations is the 5,500-mile border between the U.S. and Canada.  Which TWO countries of the Eastern Hemisphere are second on this list, sharing a border of about 4,250 miles?

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (66.7% success rate):

–> The father and son duo that oversaw the creation of which landmark once stated that its components represent “our nation’s founding, expansion, development, and preservation”?

Friday’s final question proved to be immensely difficult, as only one of our Friday teams responded correctly with Russia and Kazakhstan.  Meanwhile, our Saturday teams faced an easier final question, with two-thirds of our squads earning points with the correct answer of Mount Rushmore.  None of our teams earned the Perfect 21 this weekend.
