Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday ended 2014 with a bang, including SEVEN games of live trivia! A little bit of classic film, some music and a little of everything in between helped us close out the year! Can’t wait to hang with y’all in 2015! Check out the games:

Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA

Our last night of trivia of 2014 at Capitol City Brewing Company, and all of our best teams were in the house as they gear up for the post-season.  We welcomed a few new teams to the game, but after four rounds, it was some familiar faces in the top spots: Ramparting Ways took home another win, while Capitol City Goofballs and Korner Bar rounded out our top three.  Out first question of 2015 will feature the film “Pretty Woman”.  ~ Matt

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

So, apparently everyone felt the need for one more game of live trivia in 2014 and I had 20 teams join me on a Tuesday night at Champions! It kept me on my toes, that’s for sure, and it was nice to see so many familiar faces with so many new team names. hehe. Can’t wait for World Series – I royally enjoy getting so many of you together in one place. Entertainment is sure to follow. 🙂 The leaderboard sure was entertaining tonight, watching the teams move up and down was much like watching a tennis game. We ended up with all sorts of ties tonight, and it was a fight all the way for the top 3 places. The final shake out after a four-way tiebreaker was Simple Minds in 3rd, Thundercats in 2nd and BTI in 1st. Thanks for filling my last night of 2014 with fast paced action 😉 Speaking of action, our first category of 2015 will be Porky’s– the movie. Be safe and Happy New Year! ~Samantha

Happy New Year to you all, and I’ll see you in 2015 for our first category, Audio 1970’s Music! ~ Ronnie

Dilligad Pub – Frederick, MD

We had an awesome final night of pub quiz at Dilligad’s Pub!! Our third place winners were I Took the Liberty of Fertilizing Your Caviar!!! In second, BEER IS GOOD!! And our top-dogs with a few PERFECT ROUNDS in the mix was TNC!! See you around!! ~Torie

Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD

We had a packed house tonight, full of first timers, House Champions, and a super-team mash-up that put the whole venue ON NOTICE! Teams stayed relatively close all game, and put up some big numbers. The game was full of fun factoids tonight, jammed with “Year in Review” trivia, as well as a whole round devoted to self-improvement, New Years resolution style! Along the way, we were reminded of the dominance that is Frozen, just how many YA novels became movies in ’14, and puzzled over just how many times Oprah needed to have a talking to with Mr. Livestrong. As the final loomed, the scores bunched up, insurmountable leads disappeared, and we braced for a final that would decide it all. We had some dominant performances from new teams, as two of our top three were first-timers! They even pushed the House Champion Pomeranians out of medaling for the first time in 7 weeks! Your top three: Discovery Channel claimed third, a new duo Slaughterhouse took home silver, and crushing it from the get-go was American Outlaws! (With a little help from a ringer who may or may not Have a Brain…) They chose the U.S. Military Academy at West Point as next week’s first category, so brush up on your Military History… Navy Trivia Pour House Pub Trivia Maryland …or just start screaming, “GO ARMY BEAT NAVY.” That’ll probably work. See ya next week, -Nick

Markham’s – Bethesda, MD

Happy New Year’s Eve-eve everyone! We had a pre-new year party at Markham’s tonight and it was a tough night of trivia! Teams new and old alike struggled against a tough set! How would things play out? Highlights of the Night: In “Don’t-Shoot-the-Messenger”: I realize that mentioning “cycling” was probably a giveaway for the Interview question, but again, I don’t write the questions or make up the clips! Your words…they hurt…and it’s not my fault! Clearly we need a classic movie night for my Markham’s teams; the number of teams who knew Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone was terribly low! Come on guys, Huck Finn? Seriously? In “That-May-Have-Been-Misleading…”: tonight’s 6-4-2 was a doozy, and I have to agree with a number of teams that the 2 point clue was anything but a give-away. If anything, it narrowed it to a coin flip. And no one likes a coin-flip. With a tie in the mix and most teams within striking distance, wagering and correct answers were BOTH important factors tonight for the final! In third place, after battling for the lead all night, with a defensive wager came the Chronic Underachievers! Tough break guys but a good game none-the-less. In second, leaping up in the standings by a good margin, came Baby Sarah Has a Fever of 102.9! Good game guys! Even if you left your sick baby home with a sitter to come out to play… Taking first with a correct answer tonight, was #nohashtags2015! As much as it caused my physical pain to type that out, you guys earned the win tonight, Congratulations! We’re off for the next two weeks here at Markham’s, so have a Happy and Safe New Year! When we come back on the 20th, the category, courtesy of the nohashtags, will be Boy Bands of the 2000s. Should be fun! Until then, Ian

Monkey La La – Frederick, MD

What a game! What a night of friends and fun! What a fantastic wrap to a fantastic year of trvia at Monkey La La! We spread a whole lotta love on Tuesday nights at La La and last night was the cap of all caps! I would like to say thank you to all my friends who hung with me on Tuesday’s this year to have some fun and games! We certainly had some great times in 2014! And I send all my love out to you and your families tonight and throughout 2015! Its gonna be a good one, I can feel it! And I hope to see you out there in the 2015 trivia-ness!

The game…WOW! I might throw around “anyone’s game” here and there but seriously, it was definitely ANYONE’S GAME Tuesday! Many different teams held the 1st Place spot and it was topsy turvy all night for a few teams. Our New Year’s Resolution Round twirled things around a bit with the ole Hammond organ, and whooda thunk the e-cigs are aerosols like our hair spray?!?! The things we learn on pub trivia night! My favorite answer of the night was “Selfie,” and its recent accomplishement of becoming official in Merriam-Webster’s eyes – we of course, came up with an alternate definition or two in the La La – dictionary! 😉

And that my friends is how we do it! It has been a wonderful year and I very much look forward to doing some more of it in 2015! Have a great New Year’s everyone…Be safe! Be well and I will see you next Tuesday for our 2015 opener…we kick off with “Denny Sings Brady Bunch.” Pork chopshhh…and apple shawshh…real niccshe! Feel me? 😉
