Ending the Summer Fling Season on a High Note!

We closed the Summer Fling season last weekend with 42 teams playing at five different PHT venues:

FIRST HALF:

Opening round topics included NFL geography, the “Grand Theft Auto” video game series, and this brand of tequila:

1800 Tequila

Our weekend audio questions included unique cover songs and titles which included the names of WNBA teams.  We closed Saturday’s first half with a rather difficult bonus question regarding the original “Friday the 13th” film, which included an early appearance in the career of Kevin Bacon:

Six teams ran the table in the first round, but only Four Bossy Broads (Springfield Manor Winery) and Wingardium Triviosa (Eagles Club) accomplished the feat in the second round.

HALFTIME:

Halftime topics from last weekend included actors who had portrayed murderous characters and a word scramble dealing with American entrepreneurs.  Four teams posted perfect scores while the overall average came in at 17.1 points.  Here are your highest scoring weekend teams at the halftime break:

SECOND HALF:

Second half topics from last weekend included U.S. Presidential elections, Super Bowl host cities, and this dance craze:

The only perfect score in any of last weekend’s second half rounds was posted by Wingardium Triviosa (Eagles Club), who notched 36 points in Friday’s final round.  Here are the highest scoring weekend teams after four rounds of play:

FRIDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (66.7% success rate):

–> Among the four U.S. state capitals which are named for U.S. Presidents, which one is both the furthest north and the furthest east?

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (66.7% success rate):

–> Since the first U.S. Census in 1790, what is the only U.S. state to have been the most populous state in the country for more than a century?

For each of our two weekend games, exactly two-third of our teams answered correctly with Madison (Wisconsin) or New York state.  None of our weekend teams (with fewer than eight players) managed to run the table on all wagering questions to secure the Perfect 21.  Here is your final weekend leaderboard:

An honorable mention goes out to Off Beats (Pretzel & Pizza Creations), who posted the highest score of the weekend at 171 points, but was playing over the ‘limit’ on Saturday.
