Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Wednesday Trivia!

Wednesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 103 teams across 13 venues:

Wednesday’s game began with a question on the often-repeated phrase “Nevertheless, she persisted” before looking at this historic drama film:

After closing the opening stanza with a three-part question on The Masters, we saw 16 teams begin their night with a perfect first round score of 36 points.

Wednesday’s audio question featured three musical acts singing about bleeding: Rolling Stones (“Let It Bleed”), Leona Lewis (“Bleeding Love”), and Linkin Park (“Bleed It Out”).  We continued with the most difficult wagering question of the first half:

–> Which type of pasta derives its name from Italian words meaning ‘little ribbons’?

Only 23% of our teams answered correctly here with fettuccine.  The follow-up question was nearly as difficult, as just under half of the field knew that “The Sound of the Shell” was the title of the opening chapter of the novel “Lord of the Flies”.  As a result, only one team notched a perfect second round score: Dave Martinez School of Management (Bennigan’s – Clarksburg).

Wednesday’s halftime page featured pictures of Oscar-winning actresses and musical letters.  Nine teams notched 20 points, while the overall average hit 14.9 points.  Here are Wednesday’s top scores after the first half:

Wednesday’s third round opened with a question on this reality TV show:

Fixer Upper

Later topics included sportswear and Caribbean islands.  Just as in the second round, only one team ran the table in Wednesday’s third round: Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s).

Our final round looked at three uses for the color green, the life of Sir Walter Raleigh, and this duet:

Five teams closed their night with a 36-point final round, including Dave Martinez School of Management, who swept three rounds on the night.  Here are your top Wednesday scores after four rounds of play:

FINAL QUESTION (39.4% success rate):

–> With nearly eight million visits in 2017, what is the District of Columbia’s most-visited monument or memorial managed by the National Park Service?

About two-fifths of the field responded correctly with the Lincoln Memorial.  Congratulations to Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s), who recorded the only Perfect 21 on Wednesday by answering every wagering question correctly.  These were your top overall scores from Wednesday:

An honorable mention goes out to Hamster Relish (Memories), who notched 166 points tonight, which would have been the overall high score had the team not been playing ‘over the limit’ with nine people.
