Read on to check it out.
First off, I’d like to thank the four teams that made the seemingly endless journey up to Hagerstown last weekend to join us for World Series XI. It always great when we can have our Virginia venues well represented. Onto the game… and what a game it was! It was so close, that we needed a tiebreaker to determine tonight’s winner, and with an impressive knowledge of the size of Montana, it was the Capital Hillbillies (playing as ‘I Hate Toblerone’) that took down the first win of the summer season! Show Me On the Doll came up just short to take second, with Menace to Sobriety in third. Next week, we’ll begin the game with a question on Buck Henry! ~ Matt
I had a great night tonight subbing for Sam at Champions! It was a great game with many familiar faces, hot off the excitement of the World Series this past weekend.
After a crazy-close first half and record setting puzzle page scores, I was struggling to keep up with you all! In the end we had some serious contenders but only these few made it out with a prize: In third place we had the dedicated Thundercats, coming up in the ranks just in time to steal a prize! In second place just ahead of them were the Crystal Methodists (personal favorite team name for sure)!! And in first place, our team-to beat beginning the Summer Fling season: Wiser but Still Dead!!
Their choice of first category next week? 1915. I won’t see you next week, Sam will, but thanks for an awesome game and I’ll see you all on the flip side. Cheers!
Great night of trivia here at Cuginis as we kicked off the first game of this year’s Summer Fling tourney!
Thanks again for all of your support through Season 11, and we have some more $$$ up for grabs for you.
Here are the results of tonight’sgame:
You Talkin’ To Me? In 1st
MoMo in 2nd
John Lithgow Fan Club 3rd
Our first category for next week is The Flintstones.
We had a fun kick off to the Summer Fling last night at Celebrity Bar & Grill! A couple teams that haven’t been by for a while made a surprise appearance to make the game a little more interesting, and this is how it ended up… Finishing 3rd, I’d like to welcome back Jersey Shore! Taking 2nd was a team that hasn’t been in for even longer, Three’s Company! Back into the 1st place chair was American Outlaws! The decided to go old school NHL and picked “The Broad Street Bullies” for next weeks winners choice question.
Be safe and I’ll see you next Tuesday at Celebrity!

And they’re off! My friends over at La-La land kicked off the Summer Fling with a great game of live trivia this evening! We smack talked, we chatted about some World Series 11 moments, and we had a jammin’ La La Tuesday!
Tough Question of the Night: PALMETTO. The saw variety is a staple in the ole’ alternative medicine cabinet.
Fun Question of the Night: “Sugar Daddy.” Well, I actually think I like “Papa Sucker” better!
Congrats to our Top 3 this evening!
Wrecking Ball has invited all of us to brush up on our “Flip Wilson” trivia chops for next Tuesday night! Hehe…good stuff WB! Have a great rest of your week everyone. Thanks again for playing some La La trivia tonight and I will see you soon. DG 🙂
Tonight we kicked off our game and summer season with some good old-fashioned heteronyms. Right after that we almost had the same category, this time called double meanings, because sometimes that’s just how the winner’s choice works out! The first round even had room for a ‘hardly know ‘er joke or two, so we really started with some fun.
Also, it turns out everybody knows what Grolsch is except for me, showing that sometimes people have very, uhh, unpredictable knowledge gaps. I was shocked! We also ended the game with a Biblical names question, and it turns out Moses had a brother named Aaron which is definitely the first name alphabetically in the Bible.
Coming in third as a result of some crafty wagering, nice job to the Book Club Babes tonight! Our second place team was Smarty Pants, who answered correctly almost immediately! Our winners tonight with an impressive game after finishing FIFTH(!!!) at World Series, congrats to One Crow Short of a Murder! Way to go guys/gals! Next week we start out with Chad sings Barbara Streisand for our first category, so that should be interesting. I’ll see you all then!
Until next time,
We got things kicked off this week for Summer Fling 2015, our annual series that takes place between regular seasons. No House Championships to compete for, just raw Pour House Points!
With teams still recovering from World Series (except Fat Kids are Harder to Kidnap, who came out to play despite having the SECOND most depressing World Series XI tale to tell), the field was wide open for teams to grab an early point lead.
We learned all about Jim Carey’s love of Medieval Times, the list of famous MLB infielders from 1908 (hint – it’s a short list), and how writing, “The same guy who sang the Toy Story song”, while accurate, is not the same as actually submitting “Randy Newman”.
After halftime, the distance between first and second expanded, as teams struggled with the later rounds. By the final, first was locked up for The Duchess, but second and third still had some jockeying to do. In the end, Stark Family Reunion took second, and Team Anti-Hype took home third.
Next week’s first category, as chosen by The Duchess, is “World Capitals, Earth or Otherwise”. That’s a lot of possibilities!!
See you next week!
SUMMER FLING started tonight at Quincy’s and we had, for lack of a better term, a RAGER HERE! Double digit teams, big, loud, energetic crowd, sports of all kinds! It was a party down at the South! Trivia was at the center of all this ragin’. We had all our Quincy’s regulars back for more action, and even some new comers. It was great! Glad to see people wanting to hop right back into the game even after our World Series was just TWO DAYS AGO! Congrats to D+M who squeaked into the Top 10 at the World Series too! D+M was at Quincy’s tonight, fighting a tough game against a field of many great teams!
Question of the Night was our cyanide question, talking about the poison that killed all those people at Johnstown. We offered a Xword hint however everyone chose not to wait and went BIG on this one. Only 3 teams pulled points out with Cyanide, a majority of the field putting Arsenic instead.
Now for RESULTS: A new team who call themselves Catching Planes did some SERIOUS WORK TONIGHT on the field, gaining the lead somewhere near the end of the 3rd round and didn’t lose the top spot for the rest of the game, taking down the win, a first for them! Congratulations to the new team, hoping they come join us next week too! 2nd place went to D+M, 3rd to Uncle Jack! Great to see you all, and I’ll be just as excited to see you all next week! Come join us! Until then, peace!
1st Place: Catching Planes
2nd Place: D+M
3rd Place: Uncle Jack
Next week’s category: The Mighty Ducks Films
