Congrats to the USMNT on advancing in the World Cup! Pour House Trivia Thursday Recap!
Pour House pub quiz Thursday brought you some doozies during this USMNT World Cup edition! Good luck in the knockouts!
If you haven’t caught soccer fever…sorry. You’ll have to keep putting up with it on the blog intros for at least another week – and hopefully more!
That was a heck of a game, even with a loss. Glad to see our boys moving on!
We had a great night across all of our venues – check it out!
Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia
I would apologize for PUN-ishing you (Good one, Cranius Maxiumus!) for the last quarter of the night, but you all seemed in pretty good spirits about the whole thing, so…I’m just not going to do that.
I do love a little wordplay every now and again, and that was some pretty excellent silliness, if I do say so myself. Oh, Corn Palace, I corn never forget ye!
Top 3 Corn Puns of the Night
- You guys are really creaming me!
- There’s more than a kernel of truth in what I told you!
- Aww, shucks!
Outside of our puns, we had a heck of a game at Bunkers, with a couple of new faces hanging out with us for the evening!
It was an up and down round of live trivia, with a bunch of teams taking the first place spot at various points throughout the night, as it always seems to be at the hyper competitive Bunkers!
The Thundercats played over the limit, seeking only glory of victory – and the first category pick – and were able to achieve their goal, winning the evening!
In second was Cranius Maximus, who were defeated by just a single point.
In third, Cake or Death, and in fourth, the Indians!
I’ll see you next week for some bar trivia – and the show Firefly to kick it all off!

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
“The ship has weathered every rack / The prize we sought is won” – a great line of poetry to sum up the awesome game of pub trivia we had tonight at Champion Billiards in Frederick, MD. And we had 15 ships weathering it up tonight, so it was no floating around in shallow water! It was on!
And the teams came to play. I think my favorite answers tonight were:
– SOL and WTF for the Morse Code alternatives to S.O.S. 🙂 good stuff!
– Dear John Adams -…its actually you, its not me.
– And of course, Grumpy Cat as I am apparently the only person who has never heard of this guy!
Congrats to our Top 3 tonight who sniped some prize booty as well as some Summer Fling Points.
And props and love to Tribe and FnQ who put together a very respectable Top 5 showing!
Great game tonight everyone. Next Thursday we have been asked by Horseshoes and Hand Grenades to study up on Season 1 of “Orange is the New Black.” Do some cramming this weekend…speaking of which…I wish you a wonderful one. til we meet again 🙂 dg
Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia
Guido’s – Frederick, MD
Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD
Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland
At Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, we welcomed a few new faces visiting from other PHT locations for a little Thursday night fun. As usual, our regular teams were jammed at the top of the scoreboard, but it was Blue Collar that was able to pull away and took home their second win in the last three weeks. The Sneaky Geckos put in a nice performance for second, with Captain Awesome and the Wonder Friends sneaking into third on the tiebreaker. Next week starts with a question the lyrics of the Beatles! ~ Matt
