Chess, Cartman and Sarah Palin! Pour House Trivia Wednesday!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday was packed full of trivia and folks not afraid of some threatening snow!
A bit of chess, some interludes from Cartman and Sarah Palin, it was a doozy of a night!
Check out the recaps!
All day long there were reports of us getting tons of snow and ice and all sorts of terrible weather. Luckily all that held off long enough for us to enjoy a game of pub trivia before dealing with all the nastiness outdoors. Starting out with ‘four letter F-words’ (not THAT one!) is a pretty fun way to open things to up, and even though the halftime page turned out a little tougher than I anticipated, (and I refuse to believe that Meryl Streep’s caricature didn’t look just like her, especially in The Devil Wears Prada!) things were pretty close throughout. We also had trouble with the Hitchcock themed music question, and the artists DO matter! Sorry Corey!
In the end, the final round had a bit of weirdness to it that caused a shift in the standings, and Dalek Dance Party emerged with a 1 point lead, with a tie for second between That’s What You Get For Thinking and Rent-A-Swag. Strategic wagering on the final meant there was no tie though, and That’s What You Get For Thinking took third place. Second place went to Rent-A-Swag with a correct final answer, nice job! Our winners managed to hang onto their 1 point lead and the win, going to Dalek Dance Party! Nice work! Next week we begin with Grey’s Anatomy (the TV show, not the book) so I hope to see you all next week!
Also, Friday is the 4H theme game (Hunger Games/Harry Potter/Hobbit/Superheroes) and I can’t advertise it enough! Check out PHT’s website for the details!
Until next time,
Although we had the threat of 8 inches of snow weighing down on us all night, we had a full roster of teams venture out into the elements to contest the prize at Barefoot Bernie’s trivia night! Was a great game and I got a lot fo mileage out of some well overextended jokes this evening! Night before a snow storm always has a nice energy to it – like school is canceled tomorrow kind of feel!
Thanks everyone for coming out and hanging at Bernie’s tonight. It was a fun set, but then you can’t go wrong when you kickoff with an Olivia Newton John question! She was my first love – well, her and Farrah Fawcett!
The game was a dicey one – close the whole way. Round 4 though; Sad, Fat Dragons began to snipe 2 pt bonuses over the field like, well, a sniper! This gave them a nice cushion going into the final. After all was said and done, the Top 3 looked like this:
Next week we kick off with a new one: Fashion Designers! HOT HOT HOT! Til then, stay warm and safe and snuggly this weekend everyone! See you next Weds!
The snow was threatening, but Cellar came out in force tonight to celebrate their snow day tomorrow!
Let’s hope it actually snows or there’s going to be a to n of very hungover people at work in Frederick tomorrow 😉
Speaking of drunks- it was Team Wednesday who held on to the top spot tonight! They never looked back, was a beautiful thing to behold! I am also excited about their first category for next week- the John Wayne flick of The Quiet Man. Such a great old film. 🙂 Watch it!
In 2nd tonight were the stamp carrying guys of 2 Live Clue 2; Need a Bigger Butt. Thank you for not stamping me- I heard of your nefarious plans! 3rd went to Constantly Changing team Name, always fun to see you guys in the top 3! I just like hearing the tone change on the Whoo! hehe. See you all next week- be safe!
We had another heated game of Pour House Live Trivia tonight at Memories Charcoal House in Mt. Airy, despite the ice, rain and fog! Our teams are DEDICATED!
We had a record number of teams and a TIE BREAKER TO BOOT! What a night! In the end, after a photo-finish final tiebreaker, Men & Pausers took home our third place prize!! Just ahead of them with the winning answer for the breaker were the Trivia Crackheads!! But our number one spot went to the silent but deadly Experienced Virgins!
They found their zen in a quiet back corner and demolished the competition! Their choice of first category next Wednesday? Fire Science (Firefighter specific)!! See you next Monday!
Usually I have more teams in the hunt for the top 3 spots at The Tavern for trivia, but 3 teams pretty much had them sown up after the second round.
The exciting part of tonight was watching the top 3 teams going back and forth for the top spot after each round and bonus questions! We cannot have 3 winners though and after the final this is how it ended: 3rd place tonight went to Olney The Lonely! 2nd place (NOT AGAIN!!!) belonged to team Griffindor and stepping back into the limelight for a 1st place victory (they definitely WORKED for it), I Just Quizzed in My Pants!!
They picked the band “O.A.R.” for next weeks winners choice, so study up and hopefully we will finally get a better weather day than the last two weeks have provided!!

Fun times with live trivia at Putters’ Pub tonight! Tonight we discussed vice presidents sipping amaretto and shooting dice (and people) at the Venetian, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale’s short… stature, and the fact that chess bishops look like little nipples 😛
It was neck and neck all game until strategic wagering on the final put 19th Hole in the top spot, with Magnificent 7 taking second and Strangers Have the Best Candy taking third. Next week’s winners’ choice category is Hits of the ’70s – come out to the pub cuz I might sing! 🙂
See ya next week!
Things were hopping tonight at the Revolution Bar! A bevy of new faces joined the house regulars in one last game of trivia before the Snowpocalypse, and it was a wild one!
Highlights of the Night:
In “I-Know-What-You’re-Thinking”: Most teams got the Malcolm in the Middle question, but unfortunately no one got the bonus, because too many teams thought Malcolm’s older brother Francis was played by Neil Patrick Harris. I won’t lie, for the longest time I did too, but nope different actor.
In “You-Betcha-That’s-Wrong”: We had a couple teams overthink one of the caricatures and put Sarah Palin instead of Tina Fey. They forgot that she’s not actually a celebrity, even if she can see Russia from her house (FYI, she can’t)
In “That-Makes-So-Much-Sense”: I never knew that Trey Parker and Matt Stone created Cartman with Archie Bunker as their inspiration, but that makes so much sense. None of my teams knew it either though, so no 6 pointers tonight!
We had a tie for first going into the final, and defensive wagers were the name of the game! That said, everyone got the correct answer, so that turned out to bite a few teams!
In third place tonight, GT80 Sauce! Good job guys, well done!
In second place, tonight, with a defensive wager, E=MC Hammer! Tough break guys, but still a solid performance!
Taking it down successfully, after leading the whole night, Mess and Jegg! Congrats guys, great game!
Hoo boy…Mess and Jegg. They do like to give me silly categories, and this week is no different. Round 1 question 1 next week will be Beat the Meat. Interpret that how you will; I dunno what the writers are gonna do, but hey that’s trivia for you. If you wanna find out how that question goes, come out to the Revolution Bar next Wednesday!
Study up, and we’ll see you next time!
Another great night at trivia at T. J. Stone’s in Alexandria. It was a trivia clinic put on by Did You Miss Us?, playing a great game and falling just a few point short of a record score. They scored their second win of the season, followed by Trivia newton John and We Came For the Beer! Next week, we begin with a question on Leprechauns! ~ Matt
Plenty of players and even some new faces out here at Valley Grill for our Wednesday night live trivia brawl, and it was a close one to the end.
Here are your results:
Boom Goes the Dynamite in 1st
One Crow Short of a Murder in 2nd
Southpaw Fish in 3rd
Our first category for next week will be the film Empire Records, don’t wear yourself out shoveling snow!
