Buckle Up for Wednesday Trivia!

Wednesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 103 teams across 12 venues.

There were few surprises in Wednesday’s first round, as the field breezed through topics such as Birch beer, Hawaiian islands, the Solar System, and the Gordie Howe Hat Trick.  Sixteen teams began their night by sweeping the opening round.

For Wednesday’s audio question, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock festival by listening to live recordings from Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The Who.  The second round featured the most difficult bonus question of the night, as only seven teams knew that Thomas was the real first name of playwright Tennessee Williams.  After closing the second round with questions concerning Dollywood amusement park and the former marriage of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, we saw just three teams earn a perfect second round score: Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s), Bi-Curious George (Quinn’s), and Cake or Death (Black Hoof).

U.S. First Ladies and TV series finales were the topics from Wednesday’s halftime page.  This round included an overall average score of 14.9 points, as only two teams notched 20 points: That’s What You Get For Thinking (Furnace) and Cake or Death (Black Hoof).  Here is Wednesday’s halftime leaderboard:

We began Wednesday’s second half with a three-part question regarding U.S. Presidential elections, followed by a look at the classic TV series “The A-Team”.  The third round also included the most difficult wagering question of the night:

–> Which British-born 23-year-old female artist won Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording at the 2019 Grammy Awards for her song “Electricity”?

Apparently, very few of you are familiar with the music of singer Dua Lipa, as only 11% of the field earned points on this question.  We continued with a look at the recent infestation of grasshoppers in Las Vegas and the classic fighting video game Tekken.  None of our teams posted a perfect third round score.

Final round topics from Wednesday night included the musical film “Gentleman Prefer Blondes”, Alexander the Great, the Ganges River, and MLB pitcher Clayton Kershaw.  Five teams ran the table in the final round by earning 36 points: Matt Shearer Tokyo Drift (Valley Grill), Really Rottens (Belles’), Hipster Fashion Consultants (Quinn’s), Kokoro (Quinn’s), and Bi-Curious George (Quinn’s).  These were your highest scoring Wednesday teams after four rounds of play:

WEDNESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (73.9% success rate):

–> When written as one word, it’s the name of a corporation known for their hair care and personal grooming products.  When spelled as two words, it’s the name of an action movie starring Nicolas Cage.  For your wager, what is this word / phrase?

For the second Wednesday in a row, the success rate on the final question hovered in the 75% range, as most of our teams responded correctly with Conair / Con Air.  Despite the easier final question, none of our teams the Perfect 21 on Wednesday night, thanks largely to Christine Taylor and Dua Lipa.  Here is the final overall leaderboard from Wednesday’s game:
