Blame It On the Rain for Weekend Trivia!

Even with a healthy dose of poor weather, last weekend’s games welcomed 47 teams across four PHT venues:

With Friday night’s game falling on May the 4th, we snuck in a few “Star Wars” questions to open the game before moving on to a question about this tourist attraction:

Blarney Stone

Yes, you literally have to bend over backwards to kiss the Blarney Stone.  Meanwhile, our Saturday teams discussed celebrities with the last name of May, the 1980s musical film “Annie”, and these advertising mascots:

Cookie Crisp

Our weekend audio questions included karaoke music and six-letter rock bands (Kansas, Poison, and Weezer).  While seven teams notched perfect scores in the first round, only Two Diamonds and a Baby (Vanish Brewery) were able to replicate the feat in the second round.

Topics for the weekend halftime pages included celebrities with alliterative names and war films.  The overall average score reached 14.9 points, with just one team recorded a perfect score of 20 points: Give Us Your Beer Money (Pretzel & Pizza Creations).  These were our top weekend scores at the halftime break:

Friday’s third round quizzed our teams on the Falklands War and the three Southeastern Conference teams nicknamed the Tigers (Missouri, LSU, and Auburn).  Appropriately, Saturday’s second half sports question dealt with the “Run for the Roses”, which had concluded just as the game was getting underway.  If you thought we got a lot rain this weekend in DC, it was nothing compared to the two inches that fell in Louisville:

Kentucky Derby

Saturday’s game continued with a look at aromatherapy, brand names with apostrophes, and the rabid fans of this insane music group:

Insane Clown Posse

Uncle Jack (Belles’) and Give Us Your Beer Money (Pretzel & Pizza Creations) swept the third round with perfect scores but the final rounds did not yield any perfect scores this weekend.  Here are your weekend’s top scores after the fourth round:

FRIDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (21.8% success rate):

–> On most lists of the world’s largest nations by area, this nation ranks 133rd.  But if you include its territories and possessions, it would be ranked as high as 12th.

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (46.2% success rate):

–> Though the record has been surpassed by a Bollywood actor, the Guinness Book of World Records once acknowledged that this American set a world record by playing the lead role in 142 feature films.

This weekend’s correct answers included Denmark (which owns Greenland) and John Wayne.  Congratulations to Two Diamonds and a Baby (Vanish Brewery), who record the Perfect 21 this weekend with correct answers on all wagering questions.  Here are your top overall scores from last weekend:
