Beeps and Bleeps with Pour House Pub Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday was here to help you shake off those St. Patrick’s Day hangovers with TEN games of live trivia!
We crisscrossed all over Maryland and Virginia to bring you great pub trivia!
Check out the games.
Applebees – Frederick, MD
Some categories of pub trivia just naturally get people excited. In today’s case, it was the Star Wars question that had one player pumped up, as is usually what happens whenever Star Wars comes up. However, South American geography is a category that usually doesn’t get much fanfare. Today was different though, with a new team who decided on a whim to come play trivia tonight, the Apple-G’s getting super excited about that category. I’m glad they decided to come out and play, it’s always fun bringing new people into the trivia world.
Now to talk about the endgame. In third place we had That’s What You Get For Thinking, whose guess of ‘MURICA #FREEDOM on the final question was definitely the best wrong answer of the night. In second place was Rent-A-Swag who landed the final answer of France. Our winners had a large lead going into the final question and managed to hold onto it, congrats to Dalek Dance Party! Next week we start with medical terminology, so guess it’s time to go read up on Grey’s Anatomy (the book this time!) and study! See you guys next week!
Until next time,
-Chad
Barefoot Bernie’s – Hagerstown, MD
I thought the St. Paddy’s Day madness might have crippled us a bit but NOPE! 10 teams tonight at Barefoot Bernies came out to battle it out on the live trivia pitch (to borrow a soccer term). That’s not to say all of us, including myself, weren’t feeling the St. Paddy’s effects; we are troopers, and troopers troop. Know’m sayin? 🙂
Thanks for coming out tonight everyone! It was great to see all of you and what an awesome game of trivia we had go down! Pretty steady up until the 4th round, which had some bite to it! Some teams bled a bit but stayed in the fight! And then the final hit! And leave it to FRANCE to toggle the scoreboard on the buzzer. Great, great game y’all! Our 3rd place spot came down to a tie-breaker. So honorable mention props to Sad, Fat, Dragons who played a great game but got inched out on tight William Hearst DOB tie-breaker.
“I’m Just Here So I Don’t Get Fined,” chose University of MD Men’s Basketball for next Wednesday’s category. So brush up on your Terrapin hoops over the weekend and I will see you next Wednesday with bells on my friends. DG 🙂
2nd Place: Axl’s Doghouse 2.0
3rd Place: Anderson Cooper? I Hardly Know Her!Next week’s category: Conspiracy Theories
The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD
The luck of the Irish was still with Constantly Changing Team Name!
They didn’t let last night’s shenanigans slow them down a bit and they took the lead and never let it go- even with missing the final! Impressive! Actually that final took a lot of people down a few notches – none of our top 3 got it right! 2nd went to the esteemed and slightly more settled Team Wednesday. I think they did let last night’s shenanigans slow them down. Or at least make them a good bit quieter. They didn’t even respond to a 1969 answer! They must not be feeling well 😉 3rd went to 2nd place, they beat off the masses for it – slid right in there. 🙂
Next week we will start out with a question of John Carpenter films… should be interesting. See you then!

Memories Charcoal House – Mount Airy, MD
Yet another riveting game of brain busting live trivia was had tonight at Memories Charcoal House!!
The place was packed, the beer was flowing and the teams were hungry for prizes! In the end, it was Special K to claim our third place prize tonight! In second place was the illustrious Half a Brain with some excellent answers!! Who were the grand champs, you ask? The Experienced Virgins took it home after some serious perseverance and brain power!
Their choice of first category next week? SAILING!! See you next Wednesday!!

The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD
I had the pleasure of filling in at The Tavern tonight.
It was a close game of pub quiz for many but not much seemed to stump the first place team Gryffindor. There were some flip flopping for 2nd and 3rd but at the end of the night 2nd went to Quizzed my Pants and 3rd went to Olney the Lonely.
Next weeks winners choice is The Ricky Gervais Show. Thanks so much for welcoming me this week!

Putter’s Pub – New Market, MD
We had a blast nursing our post St. Patrick’s day hangovers with live trivia at Putters’ Pub in New Market! We discussed Janis Joplin’s latest hit “Me and Bobby McGee and Batman,” newscasts from Phil Collins and Baba Wawa, and that legendary football star Van Icancity 😛
Strange Winers took our top spot with 19th Hole taking second and Deep in Thought taking third! Break out your guitars and cowbells – next week’s Winners’ Choice category is “Christopher Walken sings AC/DC!” Cray-zy!
See ya next week!

Revolution Bar – Fairfax, Virginia
Things are never as simple as they seem at the Revolution Bar, and tonight was no exception. It was a wild one from the get go!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Best-Wrong-Answer-Of-The-Night”: As yes, I always forget about Miami Dolphins Hall of Famer Ratican City. 😛 Sure it rhymes with Vatican City, but that wasn’t the right answer either, now was it?
In “Semper-Hic-Wut-Hic”: The shnockered former Marine at the bar aside, the Coast Guard’s motto was a bit too far out of reach for the teams, though I had some hilarious attempts!
In “So-Close-Yet-So-Far”: One letter can make all the difference in this game. While beep and bleep may be similar, the definition is key and bleep is the only one with that dictionary listing. SO close, yet so far.
Only one team got the final tonight, the team that took first place overall: Mess and Jegg! BUT, they had too many players and were ineligible for prizes.
So, in third place, the Juggernauts! Way to hang tough guys, good game!
In second place, GT80 Sauce! Good job dart-jockeys!
In first place, E=MC Hammer! Congratulations guys, great game!
Mess and Jegg still got to choose next weeks’ round one category and they were feeling extra froggy. They chose to make next weeks round one question one Ian Hartman. That’s right. It’s a category about me, folks! Should be interesting!
Until then,
Ian
T. J. Stone’s – Alexandria, VA
Another great night of trivia at T.J. Stone’s in Alexandria! Did You Miss Us played a great game, hit the final, and took home another win. Two Girls and an Idiot took second, with We Came For the Beer in third. Next week, we begin with a question on Las Vegas!
~ Matt
I think many of our players out here at Valley Grill may have partied a bit too hard yesterday as we had a light game tonight. Hope you all feel better soon.
Here are the results of tonight’s game, it was a close one:
Boom Goes the Dynamite in 1st
Richard Tickler in 2nd
Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap in 3rd.
Our first category for next week is “Famous People Who Were Beheaded.” See ya next week.
