Be Sure to Czech Out Wednesday Trivia!

Wednesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 108 teams across 14 venues.

FIRST ROUND:

Opening round topics from Wednesday included Yale University, LASIK surgery, and this cannabis-crazed cartoon character:

In what proved to be the most difficult bonus question of the first half, only six teams knew that Shaggy’s real name is Norville Rogers.  Four of those six teams went on to complete a perfect first round (including three from the same venue): The Dog Ate Our Team Name (Quinn’s), My Black Hole Just Exploded (Quinn’s), Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s), and Washington Foreskins (Black Hoof).

SECOND ROUND:

Wednesday’s audio question featured songs named for actors, as we listened to “Uma Thurman” by Fall Out Boy, “Clint Eastwood” by the Gorillaz, and “James Dean” by the Eagles.  Later, we took a healthy bite of this Italian dessert:

The most difficult wagering question of the first half saw 39% of our teams correctly identify the plot of the Broadway musical “42nd Street”.  Three teams earned 36 points in the second round: The Dog Ate Our Team Name (Quinn’s), Washington Foreskins (Black Hoof), and Please Return My Pens (Memories).

HALFTIME:

Celebrity beards and the lifespan of Ronald Reagan were the featured topics on Wednesday’s halftime page.  Though several teams reached 19 points, a perfect score eluded the entire field, with the overall average reaching just 14.6 points.  Here is Wednesday’s halftime leaderboard:

THIRD ROUND:

After opening the second half with a three-part question concerning literary lovers, we took a look at this revolutionary work of art:

Only eight teams earned bonus points by knowing that “Liberty Leading the People” created by French painter Eugene Delacroix.  We continued with the most difficult wagering question of the night:

–> What is the eight-word title of the song from the 1984 film “The Woman in Red” which won Stevie Wonder the Oscar for Best Original Song?

Exactly one-quarter of the field responded correctly with “I Just Called to Say I Love You”.  The only perfect score of Wednesday’s third round was posted by Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s).

FOURTH ROUND:

After a majority of our teams picked up six points by correctly answering ‘boomerang’ on the 6-4-2 question, we discussed some of the many potential names that were almost given to these Disney characters:

We closed Wednesday’s game with a Triple 50/50 question regarding the U.S. House of Representatives.  After just 11% of our teams earned a two-point bonus with three correct answers, we did not see any perfect scores in the final round.  Here is Wednesday’s leaderboard after four rounds of play:

WEDNESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (32.7% success rate):

–> Which four independent nations border the Czech Republic?

While many teams gave us three correct answers, just under one-third of our teams earned points by responding with Germany, Poland, Austria, and Slovakia.  Three teams earned the Perfect 21 on Wednesday by answering every wagering question correctly: Spiritual Growth Hormone (Barefoot Bernie’s), Please Return My Pens (Memories), and Satan’s School For Girls (Memories).  Here is Wednesday’s final overall leaderboard:
