And I Will Always Love… Weekend Trivia!

After hosting a record crowd of 26 teams last weekend, Scotty McV decided to top that achievement by welcoming 27 TEAMS at Springfield Manor Winery in Thurmont!  Overall, 59 teams took in a weekend game of Pour House Trivia at four different venues:

FIRST HALF:

Both of our weekend games featured a Three Clues question in the opening round.  Our Friday teams fared well with the topic of Argentina, while most of our Saturday teams earned bonus points by knowing that the Queensbury Rules were once implemented in the sport of boxing.  For our audio questions, the Friday teams dealt with R&B singers with five-letter stage names (Usher, Sisquo, Kelis), while our Saturday teams sang a little karaoke music with instrumental versions of “Light My Fire” by The Doors, “Wannabe” by The Spice Girls, and “Cheerleader” by OMI.  Heading to the theaters, the second round of Friday’s game featured this horrific character:

Chucky Child's Play

Uncle Jack (Belles’) and Who’s Your Pater Familias? (Pretzel & Pizza Creations) each earned perfect scores in the first round, while Arrondissements of Ouagadougou (Pretzel & Pizza Creations) and Smarty Pants (Belles’) matched the feat in the second round.

HALFTIME:

Performers from James Bond films and sportscasters were featured on this weekend’s halftime pages.  The overall average score reached 16.3 points, with four teams notching 20 points.  Here is your halftime leaderboard from the weekend:

SECOND HALF:

In the second half, our Friday teams dealt with questions concerning the video game character Wario, the film “Any Given Sunday”, and these Biblical event:

Last Supper Da Vinci

Keeping with the art theme, our Saturday teams had to deal with the most difficult wagering question of the weekend:

–> Which FIRST and LAST name is shared by both a 20th century Irish-born painter known for his nightmarish works and a 17th century English philosopher known for his emphasis on the scientific method?

Only three Saturday teams knew that both of those people are named Francis Bacon.  As a result, The Beast (Vanish Brewery) posted the only perfect score of the third round, while an easier finish than usual led to seven teams notching 36 points in the final round.  Here is your pre-final leaderboard from last weekend:

FRIDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (22.2% success rate):

–> As of 2017, there are five U.S. states whose most populous city has less than 100,000 people.  Which is only one of these five states that lies west of the Mississippi River?

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (50.0% success rate):

–> Frank Farmer is the title character of which film that produced the best-selling soundtrack album in history?

For these final questions, the correct answers we were looking for were Wyoming and “The Bodyguard”.  Congratulations to Arrondissements of Ouagadougou (Pretzel & Pizza Creations) and Half Nelsons (Springfield Manor Winery), who each recorded the Perfect 21 this weekend.  These were your highest scoring overall teams:
