Well we had the teams back in force here at DRP in Alexandria, and again a real close game going into the final question!
May you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, and here are the results of tonight’s game:
Del Ray Dummies in 1st
Jurassic Parks & Rec in 2nd
Worst Case Ontario in 3rd
Our first category for next week will be The Hunger Games NOVELS.
I realize that it’s getting colder but tonight was the first time we had that “hurts-your-face” kind of cold! It was awful! Luckily, only a few moments were spent out in the freezing weather before coming inside to set-up for the night’s trivia game. We had a LOT of people in here tonight trying to get their last live trivia fix in before the holiday festivities start in a few days. We were glad to supply you with that fix! In a game that had nearly 15 teams, sometimes there are lop-sided scores based on the abilities of the competition, but that didn’t happen tonight! Everyone seemed to be right in the mix of it, a very competitive game! Among those 15 teams were Wrecking Ball, Quick Pink and the Vine Gang, and South Paw Fish, some of il Forno’s oldest teams from back in the day! Felt like a lil’ blast from the past tonight; it was very enjoyable!
One of the turning points, in my opinion, was during round 4 when we had our 3 Clues 1 Politician question. It was the final question of the round so every team was locked into whatever wager they had remaining but the question played much harder than anticipated for a round-ending clue. This President’s picture was on Alex P. Keaton’s night stand, and also he was born in, and buried in, Yorba Linda. Yorba Linda is a small town in California, so if you know that, the answer points to Richard Nixon, the only US president to be born in the state of California. Most teams went early for the 2 point bonus with Ronald Reagan, seemingly ignoring the Yorba Linda clue and clinging to the Family Ties hint. I’ll be the first to say that when I read the Family Ties clue, I thought Reagan as well. I thought that Reagan was kind of like Alex’s hero, and it would make sense that he’d have his picture on the night stand. But without actually knowing what picture was on the night stand, or without actually knowing where Yorba Linda is, I found it a bit odd that so many teams pulled the trigger.
Going into the final question, we had South Paw Fish sneak into the lead after being in the middle of the pack for most of the game! All they needed was to get a correct response on the final to lock the victory. Turns out, they did, so congratulations to them! 2nd place went to Quick Pink and the Vine Gang, 3rd place going to Much More Deeper! Great game everyone! Have a good holiday! We’ll be back in 1 week with more trivia fun!!! Until then 😉
1st Place: South Paw Fish
2nd Place: Quick Pink and the Vine Gang
3rd Place: Much More Deeper
Next week: South American Geography
To say tonight was wild would be putting it lightly in regards to the game of Pour House Trivia at the Roast House! Each week I think the competition level is gonna dial back a few notches and each week I am proven wrong!
Highlights of the Night:
In “What-Do-You-Think-Actors-Do?”: We had far more Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves answers for the bonus question for Point Break. What do you all think these guys do??
In “Controversy!-Controversy!” I’ve never had a night so chock full of challenges and contestations! And when I’m surrounded by more personality than would drive a normal person insane, it can be quite overwhelming! Y’all need to take the intensity down a notch!
In “Ooooooooo-That’s-Gotta-Hurt!”: So many Jam/Jamb answers on the homophones question…so many high wagers…so many groans and death glares…
After the tiebreaker for third (after a tricky final) we had our podium!
In third place tonight with a successful tiebreaking, Cher’s Zombie Army!
In second place tonight, Three Finger’s Worth!
In first place tonight, as a solo, Doris Day and the Time!
Great game tonight guys, even if some of you wanted to stab me mid game! Next week we’re gonna start the game off with Colin Farrell as our Winner’s Choice category! Study up, and we’ll see you next time!
Mon day proved to be an interesting evening at Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon. Our perennial powerhouse High School Prom was rolling along quite nicely after three rounds, but a slight hiccup on the World Geography question cost them 11 points, as they gave up the lead to begin round four. A few key two-point bonuses put them back on top, and a correct answer on the final cemented their second victory in a row. Second place went to Jimmy’s in Vegas with Knowers of Stuff in third place . Next week, we’ll begin with a question on 1990s Pro Wrestling! ~ Matt
