Al Capone waltzed with Matilda on Pour House Trivia’s Tuesday!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday brought you SIX games of live trivia! We had a little Al Capone (WHAT A VAULT THAT MAN HAD) and a bit of Waltzing Matilda! Check the recaps!
Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA
Season X closed at Capitol City Brewing Company on Tuesday night, and our inaugural season meant we crowned our inaugural house champions: the Capitol City Goofballs! In fine fashion, they came from behind on the final question to take down another win! Suckhawks vs. Patsies played an absolutely stellar game, but stumbled on the final and took second. Team Zissou rounded out our top three for the night. I hope to see everyone on Saturday at our Virginia playoffs. Good luck there as well as next week, when our first question will be about the High school Football Rulebook! ~ Matt
Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
It was nice to be back tonight!! It’s amazing how much you miss in a single night – I even missed BTI’s homemade trophy! Apparently they were resting on their laurels since this week they had to be satisfied with a 2nd place finish. It was a guest appearance by #Deep that resulted in a 3rd place for the dueling duo. 1st went to a team who are no strangers to the limelight: Thundercats! They are just warming up for playoffs this weekend! I will see you all next week (Regular game, regular time) where we will start with Tennis. Some of you lucky cats get to see me on saturday for the pub crawl and playoff games! Want to come hang out with me for an entire day?! Check out the website for details. I will leave you with a song that has been stuck in my head since a certain question popped up… THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)” [th_youtube id=’vsQrKZcYtqg’ name=’Tennis trivia’] ~Samantha
Cugini’s Restaurant – Poolesville, MD
Thanks again to everyone for coming out to Cugini’s in Poolesville for another great game of live trivia; we had 10 teams tonight! I wish all the playoff teams the best of luck, and I will see you there to personally run your playoff game. Tonight’s results were: Serenity Now in 1st, Lightfoot in 2nd, and Blue Barracudas in 3rd. Our first category for next week is Dr. Seuss! ~ Ronnie
Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD
Lightning in a bottle. The perfect storm. One for the history books. All of these things could be said about last night’s shocking finale at Perryville! Going into the game, the Pomeranians held a 9 point lead in the race for House Champion over If We Only Had a Brain.
Markham’s – Bethesda, MD
Tonight was a hopping night at Markham’s; the energy level started high and only went skyward as the game of pub trivia went on! Highlights of the Night: In “Maybe-She-Should-Be-Cut-Off”: I do love it when my teams get excited and rowdy about trivia. But when you start getting THAT rowdy, maybe dial it down a notch. No one needs to to hear about your sexcapades 😛 In “Unsuccessful-Singalong”: Try as I might, I could not get the bar to join in a quick verse of “Waltzing Matilda!” What gives?! It’s a fun song! Why you all no sing?! In “Best-Wrong-Answer-of-the-Night”: As much as I enjoyed the idea of Robin-in-da-Hood, it was unfortunately the wrong answer. Al Capone was a lot less noble than Robin Hood though. Like a LOT less. With one team resembling a runaway freight train, the final battle was really for second tonight. When the dust cleared, we had out top three. In third place, a new team: Where’s the Makers?! Good job guys, way to go! In second place, the Raging Owls! Well done guys, way to hang tough! In first place though, a traveling team that lead the whole night and never looked back: Uncle Jack! Congratulations guys, great game and a well earned win! We’re off next week as Markham’s takes care of some renovations, but we’ll be back on February 3rd, which as Uncle Jack pointed out is The Day the Music Died; so that’s gonna be our round 1 category 1 that week! Study up on Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper, and we’ll see you then! Until then, Ian
Monkey La La – Frederick, MD
Stink Floyd BRINGS HOME THE GOLD for Season 10 at Monkey La La. Tuesday’s trivia game at Monkey La La wrapped it for the Stink (that didn’t come out right). Congratulations y’all on an excellent season of trivia at the La La Licious! Tuesday’s here are no easy feat, so much props on the House Champion title! And best of luck in the post season!
We had a good 13 team romp about La La for pub trivia night Tuesday for our Season 10 finale! And what a time we had! In our standard Tuesday style we got off to a raucous start with some “statue” jokes and then any set with “Moby Dick” as an answer is sure to just send the night over the top! The drinks were flowing; the eats were hot and tasty, and the times were excellent! Thanks everyone for a fantastic season of trivia Monkey La La. I wish everyone the best of luck in the post season festivities! Bring that trophy back to La La this season!
And that my friends wraps Season 10! Great times! Next week we kick off with our Pre-Season 11 festivities and a guest set which I get to play! There will be a little $$$ bounty on my head for this thing!! So come on out and snipe that dough! We kick off with a question on BJORK! Til then…I will see you at Playoffs and Pub Crawl this Saturday! See ya soon! dg 🙂
