Across the Universe with Tuesday Trivia!

Tuesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 139 teams across 20 venues:

FIRST ROUND:

Opening round topics from Tuesday’s game included actors who have portrayed Santa Claus, words that begin with the letters “APP”, and the historical figures who lived in this European city:

Venice

We closed the first round with a difficult question concerning the NFL’s interception leaders from the 2018 regular season. Only three teams began their night with a perfect first round score: Bonesaw (Topgolf), Sloppy Seconds (Upper Deck), and Shadynasty (Casa Tequila).

SECOND ROUND:

Tuesday’s audio question included house music of a different kind, as we listened to “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House, “Jump Around” by House of Pain, and “Hanging By a Moment” by Lifehouse. We continued with a look at Faberge eggs, Sauvignon Blanc wine, and this TV drama:

Grey's Anatomy

After encountering a slightly easier trio of bonus questions, eight teams ran the table with 36 second round points.

HALFTIME:

American Sign Language was the featured topic on Tuesday’s halftime page, which yielded ten perfect scores and an overall average of 17.4 points. These were your highest scoring Tuesday teams at the halftime break:

THIRD ROUND:

We put on our frocks to begin Tuesday’s second half, before moving on to a wicked one-two punch that put most teams down to the canvas:

–> Wanting to avoid the 19th century stereotype that female authors only wrote light-hearted romance novels, author Mary Ann Evans used what pen name to write such novels as “Silas Marner”, and “Middlemarch”?

–> Prior to 2018 winner Mookie Betts, who was the most recent player to win the American League MVP Award while playing for the Boston Red Sox?

For each of these questions, the correct answer percentage hovered around 15%, and only nine teams gave us both correct answers of George Eliot and Dustin Pedroia. We closed the third round with a look at this two politicians:

Two teams earned a perfect third round score: Balls In (Quincy’s South) and Avocados to Crabs (Perry’s).

FOURTH ROUND:

In Tuesday’s final round, we looked at Haitian dictators, “Today” show host Hoda Kotb, and this recent film adaptation of a contemporary best-seller:

Crazy Rich Asians

We closed the fourth round with a three-part question regarding the nicknames for fan bases of certain musical acts. While most teams knew that Parrotheads referred to fans of Jimmy Buffett and Little Monsters referred to fans of Lady Gaga, only four teams earned bonus points by also knowing that the Blue Army is the nickname for die-hard fans of Aerosmith. As a result, the only perfect final round score was turned in by We Thought This Was Speed Dating (Charlie’s). Here is your pre-final leaderboard from Tuesday night:

TUESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (17.8% success rate):

–> On which celestial body can you find the Mona Lisa crater, named after the painting by Leonardo da Vinci?

About one-in-six teams arrived at the correct answer of Venus. None of our Tuesday teams managed to record the Perfect 21 tonight. Here is your overall leaderboard from this final Tuesday of Season XVIII:
