Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA

Well, another fine night for some Pour House Pub Trivia down here in Alexandria, and it is always a game that is tons of fun to run as well.

The final moved the furniture around quite a bit, and it took everything for the front running teams to hold on, bringing a team from the middle of the pack to win!

Here are the results:

Periodic Table Dancers in 1st

HR PuffnStuff in 2nd

Del Ray Dummies in 3rd

Our first category for next week is the DC United!

il Forno – Frederick, MD

The rain was pouring outside but the atmosphere was PERFECT inside as we knuckled down and decided who was the best trivia team tonight. Double digit team numbers tonight at il Forno = a great turnout for a good game of trivia. Back to defend last week’s victory was Quick Pink and the Vine Gang, but against a large field stacked with veterans, the odds were not exactly in their favor to repeat.

These odds did NOT keep them from coming out strong, holding a tie for 1st place after the first half. They seemed to be picking up every point possible, even picking up a 2 point bonus on TWO different questions where no other team was able to. After the first 3/4 of the game, the 4th round would be the only thing keeping QP from a repeat. However, the 4th round was NOT kind tonight as QP opened round 4 by missing a 9 point wager on the first question and essentially kept themselves from being able to retake the lead.

Round 4 was also home to our Question of the Night. Tonight was a Science Question. We asked on what temperature scale is “Absolute Zero” defined as -273.15 degrees. Absolute Zero gets its name because it is ZERO on the Kelvin scale. Absolute Zero would NOT be zero on the other scales. It would read at -273.15 on the CELSIUS scale. Only a few teams picking up that, and the misses were BIG wagers.

Going into the final, I’m with Sarah led by 12 points. This scenario left them with the decision to bet 1 and be able to secure a win with a correct response OR bet zero and guarantee a shot at first with a tie breaker. Sarah decided ZERO was the bet. Fortunately for them, only a few teams were able to convert on the final question, leaving their lead intact. I’m with Sarah would take down the win tonight. 2nd place was Quick Pink and 3rd was MC! Great game tonight. It seems over the last 8 weeks or so, the lead has traded between Quick Pink and Sarah. Let’s see if the trend sticks or fades next week! We’ll see ya then!

1st Place: I’m with Sarah
2nd Place: Quick Pink and the Vine Gang
3rd Place: MC

Next week: Stargate

Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD

Roust House proved once again tonight why it’s easily one of the crazier nights of Pour House Trivia! A game that took a wild left turn at the end that made all the difference in what was an otherwise steady night for most teams.

Highlights of the Night:

In “Shade-Getting-Thrown-Everywhere”: With several prominent players from various teams returning from hiatus this week, the smack talk started getting thrown around thick and fast. Which is good! I like it when y’all are feisty!

In “You-Boys-Like-Mexico?”: The international borders question had a few teams scratching their heads. We had some North and South Korea answers, but also a few teams in the ballpark with USA and Mexico. So close, yet no cigar.

In “Trust-The-Mortons-Girl?”: This question was a backbreaker, that completely changed the face of the game. With half the field getting hump up on the wrong clue and putting Mortons rather than Gortons, the groans were loud and long.

The final question of the night was key, as it spelled certain victory for one team and redemption for another.

In third place tonight, Gang of Four!

In second place tonight, Multiple Scorgasms!

In first place tonight, One Crow Short of a Murder!

Well done everyone on a tough but great game of live trivia! Next week I will be warming up my vocal cords again, for the winner’s choice category of Ian Sings Disney Princess Songs! I can most definitely show you A Whole New World! Be Prepared, you Poor Unfortunate Souls! >:)

Until then, Ian.

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA

Normally, when you announce that a team has won its first game of the season, they are pretty happy to hear the news.  Not so at  Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon, as all of our teams are used to winning more than once.  It was an extremely close game tonight, as our hard-core teams were in the house and playing close to their full potential.  The final round ended with a tie for first, but when only one of those top teams was able to come up with the correct response, it was Knowers of Stuff who took down the win (it was their first win of the season, but who’s counting?).  High School Prom finished second with Eleven is a Prime Number in third.  Next week, a question on famous sausages!
