A wild Wednesday with Pour House Pub Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday had NINE games of live trivia happening, so ANYWHERE you wanted trivia, you could have it! We covered Neil Young’s forays into music, Pandora’s box, and a little SEC Football action! Check out the recaps!
Applebees – Frederick, MD
First of all, I hope you all had a good Veterans Day yesterday, and thank you to everybody who served or is currently serving! Today’s live trivia at Applebee’s was a close race all the way to the end, with eventual winner One Crow Short of a Murder taking a narrow lead in the fourth round and holding on in the final question. In second was #Deep initially playing solo but ending up as a duo after a late arrival. Third place went to a newcomer, Dalek Dance Party, who came out of the gates hot but cooled off a bit towards the end. Also, I’mma let you finish, but Team Collusion had the greatest game of all time! In spirit, thanks to how many answers were (not) actually Tupac! Thanks for coming out and playing with us, and I hope to see you all next week when we open things up with All In The Family! Study up, meatheads! Until next time, Chad
Atlantic Grille – Urbana, MD
Barefoot Bernies – Hagerstown, MD
Ok Ok…”Pandora’s Box” is NOT an underground porn film (that I know of). But it was the first question that began to throw things for a loop-dee-loop at Bernies trivia Wednesday in Hagerstown, MD. The game certainly was a thrilling one! The question set was filled with some fun ones and some bombs for sure! Louis Farrakhan, Calypso extrordianaire, for example!
Bennigan’s – Clarksburg, Maryland
The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD
Holy strategic final Batman! Some of you strategized your way right out of the top 3! The Cellar is always a good time for pub quiz and we had 13 teams battling it out in a good natured royal rumble tonight. Warming up before the polar vortex hits 😉 In 3rd tonight, losing the Peru tie breaker was Grab A Straw, You Suck – apparently Team Wednesday had a leg up since they recently traveled to Peru and the population was in the brochure. Hehe. Wednesday picked up a 2nd but there was no greater Cinderella story (Yes, maybe even worthy of a Rocky Musical) than Temporary Team Name! They were moonlighting on their teams and thought they were going to fly under the radar since they were in 7th going in to the final, however, they took first! Great game! Babylon 5 has been chosen as next weeks category so watch it fools 😉 ~Samantha
The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD
It was nice to see the teams out to PLAY tonight for live trivia at the Tavern in Olney, Md! It always makes for a more exciting game!! Finishing 3rd tonight was I Quizzed in My Pants! Moving up to 2nd place after the final question was Team Gryffindor! Your 1st place finishers for this week are Olney the Lonely!! They decided on the tv show “The West Wing” for next weeks winners choice question, so study up and let’s keep hump day rolling at the Tavern for trivia next Wednesday night!! ~ Jon J
Revolution Bar – Fairfax, Virginia
Tonight was a wild one at Revolution! With a new traveling team encroaching on the locals territory, it quickly became clear that this fight would come down to the final question! Highlights of the night: For the first time in a long time we had a bar-wide whiff. No one knew Neil Young’s other Hall of Fame Inducted Band. Granted I wouldn’t have been able to tell you what it was either, but you’d think SOMEONE in the bar would know it! Spoiler alert: I got stink eye when people realized what the clue was in this one. Once again guys, I don’t write the questions, I just read em! The lead changed hands so many times tonight, when the final standings fell it was literally anyone’s game. The final would be crucial. In third place tonight, dropping from the lead with a defensive wager, came Movin on Up! Tough break guys, but still a very good game! In second place, Mess and Jegg! They fought long and hard and a correct answer saw them leap into second! But taking it down tonight, were the out-of-towners, the Del Rey Dummies! Congratulations guys, way to make an impression! The Dummies have chosen Joss Whedon for a first round category next week, and swore they’d return to defend the title! How will things go? You’ll just have to come out and see! Until then, Ian
T. J. Stone’s – Alexandria, VA
We had quite an interesting finish at T.J. Stone’s in Old Town Alexandria, as several teams became VERY apprehensive when wagering on the final question. It seemed that poetry was not the strong suit of our field. We did have three teams come up with the correct response on the final, but two of those teams bet zero. One team that did wager was My Favorite Team, who led the whole way and capped off the night with a win. Second place went to Two Girls and an Idiot, followed by Trivia Newton John. Next week begins with a question on Ice Cream! ~ Matt
It was toasty warm inside for tonight’s edition of live trivia at the Valley Grill Sports Bar, and the trivia was HOT HOT HOT! Southpaw Fish returned to the top slot for tonight’s game with Simple Minds right on their heels for 2nd. After a tie-breaker, it was Capt. Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters who came out ahead for 3rd. Our first category for next week is Disney’s Beauty & the Beast! ~ Ronnie
