A terrific Tuesday with Pour House Trivia!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday  had a whopping seven games to keep you on your trivia toes! We’re so close to Halloween I can already taste the candy! What are you going as this year? Check out the games!

Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA

We are hitting our midseason stride at Capitol City Brwing Company in Shirlington!  Tonight’s game had a bit of Halloween theme, and as usual, our stellar teams cruised through four rounds, ready to take home the top prize.  But, it was the final question that really shook up the standings.  Coming from behind with their first win of the season at Capitol City was Korner Bar, and jumping up several spots was Obviously Not Golfers, who took second.  After leading all night, Capitol City Goofballs had to settle for third.  Next week begins with a question on the Pittsburgh Steelers!  ~ Matt

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

15 teams faced off at Champions tonight; the beer was definitely flowing! Everyone was taking advantage of that Goose Island special, and running laps to get answers in around the giant group. Some of you have some serious Ninja skills! You also have some very good pub trivia skills as was evident in the swapping around that was happening in the top 3. At the end of the play it was Castaways who were DQ’ed after throwing a flag for too many players on the field;, they would have taken 3rd if they qualified but that opened the way for a very excited Nation of Quizzlam! Nice job guys and gals! It was the much less visibly excited Wiseacres who took 2nd (They were cheering on the inside!) and it left BTI in first! Those boys know how to finish a game! They also know how to celebrate a birthday, thank you for the cupcake- it was perfect! I will see you next week for Duran Duran to start us off. ~Samantha

Cugini’s Restaurant – Poolesville, MD

Thanks again to everyone for coming out to Cugini’s in Poolesville as once again it was time for a little Tuesday live trivia! Man that third round tonight had a couple of tough ones in it and it really changed the score around! The breakdown goes like this: MoMo in first, Drunk n Disorderly in second, and Serenity Now in 3rd. You all have a happy Halloween and I’ll see you next week where our first category will be the Back to the Future Trilogy! ~ Ronnie

Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD

Another photo finish for pub quiz at Hollywood Casino Perryville tonight, and on my birthday no less! We learned a lot, including my lack of doo-wop skills and that no one should name their child Cinnamon. (How does mixing salt and pepper produce cinnamon, anyway??) After a ton of jostling all game, and a particularly difficult puzzle page, the field was very close. Only the final could help us decide a winner, and we came up with only two sets of famous Americans. True Marylanders (Marylandites? Marylandans?) knew the pair we were looking for, and ave us our final scores! In third, If We Only Had A Brain were just narrowly beat out by The Pomeranians, who took down second by a single point. But there was strength in numbers as a full team of Gorams took home first. Next week’s first category will be (Sir) Elton John, so if you have a pair of THESE, be sure to bring them! Nick

In first place was Dalek Dance Party!! Their choice of first category next week was Mario Bros. Video Games!! See you next Tuesday!! – Torie

Markham’s – Bethesda, MD

It was a “Spicy” night at Markham’s tonight! As rowdy as I’ve seen and tons of fun!

Highlights of the night:

Tonight in “Arguments for Wrong Answers”, just because The Wiz is a dream, making the Wiz himself a figment of Dorothy’s imagination, does not negate the fact that I asked for the actor playing the Wiz in the film, which was Richard Pryor, while Diana Ross was Dorothy. Interesting argument, but sorry, no dice!

Guys, Cinnamon Is a spice. Yes, it is. Just because you wouldn’t classify something with Cinnamon in it as “Spicy” doesn’t make it any less of a spice.

We had a our first tiebreaker at Markham’s tonight, to decide those ever crucial top spots. Who would emerge victorious?

In a thrilling showdown, it was unfortunately the Hawai’ian Anthonies who fell to the tiebreaker, going a bit too high into the 1900s. Still, third place guys, well done!

In second place, came the Snowmen! Congratulations guys, even if you did spend the first 20 seconds of your time trying to argue with me that you couldn’t possibly be in a tiebreaker situation. Go means go, guys!

Taking first tonight though was a dominant new team, the Meat Curtains! Well done everyone and congrats on the inaugural win!

For their first round category next week, the Meat Curtains have chosen 80s movies! Should be fun to study for! Get watching, and we’ll see you next time.

Until then,
Ian
