A terrific Tuesday with Pour House Pub Trivia!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday capped off a gorgeous day with eight great games of live trivia!

We explored the many definitions of cleavage and then our always famous last word-first word questions!

Check out the recaps:

Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA

Another week… another win by the Capital Hillbillies at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington!  Tonight, they played as ‘You’re a Riot’, and although they were actually trailing after the first half, they missed just two possible points in the home stretch (what, no hard core Imagine Dragons fans?) and even were correct on a very difficult final question.  So, it’s now two in row as they get ready for playoffs.  Second place went to Menace to Sobriety, who was the only other team to get the final, and jumped up six spots.  The Valley Girls played a strong game as usual to take third.  next week, we begin with Famous Redheads!  (I swear this was the first picture that came up on Google)  ~ Matt

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

Thundercats! Holy Thundercats- HO! You guys rocked the hell outta tonight’s game of live trivia, you just never let up. Fun to watch, the cats just never faltered. Not a single question missed. Love it!

They obviously took first at Champions tonight. BTI did a helluva job for only being the 4 of you holding it down- hell, you did a helluva job even just as a regular team 😉 They picked up that 2nd spot tonight and it was Newton’s Minion who managed to slide in to 3rd with a correct final- yet again as a single!

Better be careful, I saw Chuck chatting him up after the game- everyone is trying to sway him on to their team. Watch out now! 😉 Next week we start out with a rather specific category- the Banjo. Enjoy.

Cugini’s Restaurant – Poolesville, MD

The leaderboard for tonight’s game of pub quiz here at Cugini’s in Poolesville moved around quite a bit and more than half the field had a chance here at the end to come out on top!

These folks love their bar trivia, and the competition was definitely on!

Here are the results of the game:

Quizzed In My Pants in 1st

MoMo in 2nd

Stephen Hawking’s School of Dance in 3rd

Our first category for next week is Geometry.

Fun night of live trivia tonight at Monkey La La in Frederick, MD. Now we know, WTF has multiple meanings and so does cleavage. And what a game that was! This one came down to the final Q my friends! And this final had teeth!

Congrats to our Top 3 tonight who played a very good game. It was tight the whole way with Could Be Anything handling business all the way through. But you know how those finals can be sometimes. And with a few teams in striking distance it turned out to be a wild finish! We even had a little Arm & Hammer tie breaker for 3rd Place. Here’s how it wound up:

Thanks for coming out tonight everyone. Enjoy the rest of your week and I will see you next Tuesday night. We kick that one off with a question in the category of Kama Sutra. Yum Yum 🙂 Have a good time studying up on that one! Til then, love ya! DG 🙂

Orioles Nest #331 – Frederick, MD

Tonight we started right out of the gates with a few racy-sounding answers. Whether we were talking about Djibouti(Ja-Booty) or talking about the geological phenomenon of cleavage (Eyes up here!) the first round was full of ridiculous innuendo and jokes. After that we settled down up until the famous foursomes question came up, at which point things got a bit rowdy again, but it was all in good fun of course! I’ve also been challenged to come up with a new example of a Last Word/First Word question, which I can definitely do, even though Optimus Prime Rib was always a great one.

Anyway, tonight’s game ended up with a surprisingly difficult final question, with it turning out that a lot of people think Boston has a lot more people than it actually does. In the end our third place team was One Crow Short of a Murder, who played well but couldn’t quite close the gap. In second was Black Steel, who was in the lead for much of the third and fourth rounds, and had the lead going into the final question. However, tonight’s winners, the Book Club Babes, used a bit of crafty wagering to take the victory right out from under Black Steel’s feet. Congrats on a well played victory, Book Club Babes! Next week we start with the film The Theory of Everything, which is a very good film if you haven’t seen it yet. You should watch it, and I hope to see you all again next week!

Until next time,
-Chad

Tilted Kilt – Frederick, MD

The TK girls were a trivia force to be reckoned with, as they joined in on the fun of this week’s game. With veteran teams battling it out to secure that coveted House Champion title, the competition level was fierce.

Teams breezed through some questions, and were quite stumped by others. While a SHOCKING amount of teams missed a question all about cleavage (safe to assume they were distracted), everyone knows their baseball stadiums… or at least their beers! And while you might know that a monkey starred on “BJ and the Bear”, do you know what species of monkey?!
As we arrived at the final, teams were relatively close in score, with a showdown looming between two perennial powerhouses. The final proved to be a challenging one, and in the end, we had almost as many different answers as teams!
In third was The Duchess (previously known as My Favorite Team over at Bennigans). Taking home second was STDB, and in first, Dewey, Cheetum and Howe. They’ve selected Game of Thrones (TV, not books) as their first category next week, so expect a LOT of, “It is known, Khaleesi” being tossed about.

See you next week!

Quincy’s South – Rockville, MD

Great game tonight! A quick shout out to my family for coming out randomly and playing tonight! Great to see you guys, and I had no idea you were coming, always a pleasant surprise! The family, playing under the name TBH had a decent showing tonight. They were one of 3 teams to correctly answer tonight’s edition of Question of the Night, which was our Vitamins question. The question, essentially, was what vitamin is also called “retinol”? I’m not sure (I lack knowledge in the science field) but I would guess retinol is rooted to the word “retina” which leads to eyes, and I believe Vitamin A is the thing in carrots and other foods that helps improve your night vision. I could be going out on a limb here, but that’s how I interpreted the clue. Even so, we had most of the field miss this one, grats to the teams that were able to pull it down. After a hard fought night, the winners, for two weeks in a row now, are Uncle Jack! 2nd place went to TBH who were able to come up with a correct response on the final and leapt over Patrush (who was 2nd going in, their highest almost-finish thus far). 3rd place went to a group of our regulars The Big Fact Hunt, who will openly admit, they kinda screwed the pooch tonight but still managed to sneak into the money with a correct response on the final, so congratulations them as well! Playoffs are creeping up fast, hoping teams are prepping and getting themselves focused for our post-season. Lots of prize money to give away, here’s to hoping you all come away with something nice! I’ll see you guys next week!

1st Place: Uncle Jack
2nd Place: TBH
3rd Place: The Big Fact Hunt
