Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
“Well you can’t have everything…where would you put it?” -Steven Wright
My favorite comedian of the 90s apparently has fallen into the void of “lesser known” celebs that pop up at live trivia night now and again! He rocked though! You young whipper-snappers that have not been regaled by the one line genius of Mr. Wright, should take a few minutes and have a listen – he is delightful!
I would say Sam Rayburn falls into the same category but he is not nearly as funny! And I wanted to let you all know that my dream prophecy about the V for Vendetta question came true. After Champions trivia I went over to Guidos to hang with my buddy Jon as he ran trivia night and his computer shut down on that question and caused a smidge of chaos. I knew my ESP cells were in fine working order – scary sometimes!
Among all of the psychic energy and fun times we were tossing around last night at Champions, we got one heck of a trivia game in! It was a game of small edges. No one ran with the thing. And it all came down to Les Miserables FTW! And I would like to send out big props to Stormy Bongo Adventures for a game well played! And nice close! Didn’t even hesitate on Les Mis – snap answered it! BOOM!
Great time everyone; thank you for coming out and hanging last night. Stormy Bongo’s have asked us all to go play Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time this weekend to prep for next Thursday’s first question! Have fun with that one and I will see you soon! Be well! DG 🙂
Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia
The Summer Season is coming to an end pretty soon here and it seems like we’ve still got new teams squeezing their way into the standings with some impressive performances!
A new team, calling themselves – well, I don’t think their team name was SUPER appropriate for all ages, so I’ll just refer to them as “Women and (BLANK) Don’t Mix!” They were pretty strong tonight. Their first time competing at the Fish Market and they held the top spot ALL NIGHT LONG! Going into the final, they were up 2 on bar favorite 2 Birds One Stone, who seemed strong, but not as good without a few of their team members who were out of town for the evening.
The final question sure mixed things up a bit. Here’s how to game ended: 3rd place, with a correct response, we had a travel team from other PHT venues in the VA area come visit us, they were the Pi Eaters! 2nd place, one of our regulars FINALLY crack into the top 3, way to go Team Swann!!! And your winners tonight, getting lucky that our new team botched the last question, are 2 Birds One Stone! Managing to win without a good chunk of their squad… This team might be dangerous come tournament time! We’ll see, should be exciting! Back in a week for more Summer Trivia Madness! See ya then!
1st Place: 2 Birds One Stone
2nd Place: Team Swann
3rd Place: Pi Eaters
Next week: Turkish Delights!
Guido’s – Frederick, MD
We had a nice little game of trivia at Guido’s Speakeasy last night. I always enjoy it when a team is so big that they have to split up, because then the competition and trash talking between themselves is almost more fun to watch than the actual game itself!
Our 3rd place finisher ended up being T.N.C.! Missing the first 4 questions of round 1 and still kicking butt to finish 2nd place was Vanilla Thunder!! Back in the drivers seat with the 1st place victory was Trivia Team 2: Electric Boogaloo!!! Their choice for next Thursdays winners choice was “Erotica Fan Fiction”, which should be interesting, so study up and come join the party at Guido’s!!

Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD
Oldie by a goodie team Clever team name came in solo and took the top slot. We had to battle it out for 2nd and 3rd place between Anul Bum Cover and In Boca Al Lupa.
End result, Anul bum covers took 2nd place, and Boca finished up in 3rd. Keeping it classy the category for next week is 17th century British Lit.

Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland
As usual, a packed house at Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, and it was a tight race all night. Lowered Expectations and Breadsticks were tied for first after the first, second, and third rounds! But LE’s masterful knowledge of U.S. History pushed them into the lead, and they never looked back. They took down their fifth win of the season, and are in prime shape for the Summer Fling Finals next month. In second place, Breadsticks also pulled the final answer correctly, while Nasty Neutrons took third. Next week, we begin with a question on the 2015 Miami Dolphins. ~ Matt
