A Sweet (Caroline) Monday with Pour House Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday brought you six awesome games of live trivia to start your week off right! A little bit of pirogi (one of my faves!), some Sweet Caroline, and we were off and running! Why don’t you check out the games?
Blue Sky – New Market, MD
Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA
Thanks to all the wonderful teams for your patience as I sat in traffic eating my steering wheel while trying to get to DRP within a reasonable time; you folks are great! High School Prom is proving to be a tough team to beat as they take another 1st place win here at DRP. MSC played a solid game finishing in 2nd, and HR PuffnStuff has been on a tear lately nabbing another 3rd place showing. See ya all next week for our first category, Math! ~ Ronnie Â
Greene Turtle – Hagerstown, MD
You all managed to resurface from your turkey comas to stretch those brain muscles at tonight’s game of trivia at the Greene Turtle in Hagerstown! Â I was quite impressed! Â Wasting no time at all, as it is December 1st and nothing is sacred any longer, we had our FIRST CHRISTMAS QUESTION tonight! Frosty thrilled one and all, I’m sure! Our top turkeys tonight were…. In third place was It’s Just Toothpaste! Â Just ahead of them in the second place spot was Cotton Candy! Â And our number one trivia team of the night was….. Thinkers & Dreamers! Â Their choice of first category was Historic Hotels in New York City! See you next Monday!! ~Torie
il Forno – Frederick, MD
Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD
Let’s face it: if you’re not at the Roast House on Monday night for pub trivia, you’re not having as much fun as we are! Veteran teams, House Regulars and Travelers alike piled into the bar tonight in what would prove to be a crazy match! Highlights of the night: Neil Young and Neil Diamond, while both great musicians, are two VERY different people. And Sweet Caroline is only by Neil Diamond! In “Most Popular Wrong Answer of the Night”: unfortunately, while Oklahoma may have a musical, it unfortunately does not have the most tornadoes! Tough break guys! OK seriously guys? How do more of you know the Velveteen Rabbit than Frosty the Snowman?! How is that possible?! Does not compute… In “Best Wrong Answer of the Night” came from the final: while I agree it’s much more feasible that this is true, I can not verify that Liberace’s birth came with a double rainbow and a new star, as appropriate as it may have been! The final proved to be crucial! How would it all go down tonight, when the teams had to name some names?! In third place tonight, came the Know Nothings! I’d say you guys know plenty, good job! In second place, hunting the top spot all night, and getting the final correct to secure the podium spot, came Spring Break Frederick! Great game guys, well done! But the house juggernaut would not be denied, as Multiple Scorgasms nailed the final and took the venue down AGAIN. Somebody stop this crazy train! Congratulations guys, excellent job! MS has chosen to continue throwing attempted stumpers at the venue, and have chosen Theoretical Physics for their Round 1 Question 1 category. Get studying, maybe get some help from Drs. Cooper and Hofstadter, and we’ll see how it goes! Until then, Ian
Spider Kelly’s –Â Arlington, VA
Well, we got off to a bit of a late start, but the traffic did not deter any of our players, as we had 11 Â teams battling it out at Spider Kelly’s on Monday night in Clarendon. Â It was an impressive first half by Eleven is a Prime Number, as they played a flawless first two rounds, and looked like they were going to run away with it. Â The lead did shrink a bit in the second half, but they still held a comfortable margin heading into the final. Â They could not have been any closer to the correct answer, but they were off by just two letters, and had to settle for third. Â Liquor? Â I Hardly Know Her snuck into second on the final, with the Rocket Surgeons returning to the winner’s circle for the first time in nearly two months. Â Next week, we’ll begin with a question on World War II. Â ~ Matt
