A Sentence of Hard Labor at Monday Night Trivia!
Some wild weather rolled through the DC area on Monday night, but that did not deter 74 teams from enjoying trivia at one of 11 Pour House Trivia venues:
ROUND 1:
Monday’s opening round topics included the Little Dipper, college geography, and the film work of Jim Carrey. As usual, we saved the most difficult bonus question for the end of the round, as only 15% of the field knew that this vampire film was Carrey’s first lead role in a feature film:
Thanks to this final question, only five teams recorded perfect first round scores on Monday night.
ROUND 2:
Monday’s audio question dealt with songs whose titles contained the word “NAME”: “A Horse with No Name” by America, “Name” by Goo Goo Dolls, and “My Name is” by Eminem. We then enjoyed (?) some non-alcoholic beer and looked the recent political turnover in Cuba. Our first half sports question asked our teams to name any two of the three major professional sports franchises named for fish, with most of our diehards having no trouble scoring bonus points with these three answers:
After closing with a question on “Downton Abbey”, we saw seven teams run the table with 36 second round points.

Monday’s halftime page featured members of Forbes Magazine’s list of the world’s Most Powerful Women. The overall average score reached 17.4 points, which six teams notching a perfect score. Here are Monday’s top scores heading into the halftime break:

–> In the field of physics, Ohm’s Law can be used to determine the voltage of a circuit by multiplying the number of amps in the current with which quantity measured in ohms?
Only 36% of the field came away with points with the correct answer of resistance. Later, we discussed NFL coaches and this southeast Asian country:
With only six teams able to name all three colors of the national flag of Laos, this proved to be the most difficult bonus question of the night. As a result, only two teams posted perfect third round scores: Kitten Mittens (Cheesetique) and MC (Il Forno).
ROUND 4:
Monday’s final round began with an Over / Under question on the subject of toys and games, followed by a look at this Emmy-winning comedy show from Adult Swim:
The fourth round also included two rather difficult bonus questions, as we asked for the member of Migos who is engaged to rapper Cardi B (Offset) and the actor who portrayed Bobby Fischer in the film “Pawn Sacrifice” (Tobey Maguire). In each case, only nine teams answered these bonus questions correctly, but none of our teams were able to sweep the final round. Here are Monday’s top scores after four rounds of play:
