A Perfect Storm of Pour House Trivia! Tuesday Recap
Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday was a whopper of a game! We had a little fun with a cup of coffee from Dunkin Donuts, followed that up with a waltz and some World War Z zombies, and lastly, jumped into some classic sci-fi with 2001: A Space Odyssey! Check out the games!
Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
Thank you for being so gracious to our Trainee tonight all! You were a great crowd for Nick and also allowed him to see a great game unfold. Yet again, it all came down to the final answer! We had a tie going in and once the dust cleared it was the juggernauts of BTI who rose above Dewey Decimators to take back the lead spot after watching the librarians stroll in off the street and dominate for most of the game. Oddly enough, it was an author question that stuck the studious intellectuals back in to the plebeian ranks. 2nd went to Jungle Fever who never wavered on that final question. Rounding out our top 3, it was the new team, Nation of Quizlam who took the 3rd place spot and the final money spot tonight. Fun to watch, thanks! I will see you next week- same bat time, same bat channel and we will start out with the music of Shaun Cassidy. Da doo ron ron, da doo ron ron? ~Samantha
Cugini’s Restaurant – Poolesville, MD
We had a hot game of live trivia at Cuginis tonight, and the final flipped the entire game around! Drunk ‘n Disorderly was our top team, with Quizzed in My Pants taking 2nd. Blue Barracudas nailed the final for 3rd. Our first category for next week is Game of Thrones. ~ Ronnie
Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD
Jekyll & Hyde Tavern – Frederick, MD
I had a great first half-night at Jekyll & Hyde’s tonight! There was a great crowd, some notable song requests and a memorable game! In third place taking home a prize tonight were the Book Club Babes! Ahead of them in second place was a close race to the top for Black Steel! In first place by a SINGLE POINT was Beer is Good! What a game! Their choice of first category next week is Baltimore Orioles Baseball!! See you next Tuesday! ~Torie
Markham’s – Frederick, MD
It was a tight pub quiz match tonight at Markham’s! New teams and returning veterans duked it out all night in a match that came down to the wire! Highlights of the night: So apparently, a Spitz is a type of dog. I should really check that ahead of time next time instead of seeing something odd, thinking its a weird cut and paste error, and wasting time trying to figure out what happened…Oops. Every one of my teams needs a crash course on the Beastie Boys pronto. Not a single one got Brass Monkey, though I got stink eye from every team for it! Toughest trivia challenge I’ve faced so far: trying to host while the Nationals are sleeping on the job in their playoff game. The number of times I thought obscenities were being thrown my way was on the high side tonight! Thankfully, most were not! With a tough fourth round, the top teams were all very close to one another going into the final, and correct answers made the difference. In third place, the Chronic Underachievers! Tough break guys, but a good game nonetheless! In second place, the Snowmen! Good comeback guys, well done! In first though, leading most of the night and taking it down with a correct answer, the After Party at Mike Noonans! Congratulations on your first win guys, well done! For their first round category next week, APaMN have chosen Bill Pullman movies! I whole-heartedly approve! Until then, Ian
Monkey La La – Frederick, MD
It was a spicy sauce tonight at Monkey La La trivia night. Maybe it’s the fall, maybe the rain or maybe just the stellar mix of trivia players at the bar tonight, but we had a wham bam, jam up, throw down, fun night, fo sho! From “lithium” to “Pyrex,” and “Hogan’s Heroes,” to “nanoseconds,” the sauce was hot but it went down scrumptiously! (And as a sidenote – apologies for letting out the fact that “Hogan’s Heroes,” was voted 5th Worst TV Show of All Time – apparently we struck some cords with that one! Long live Hogan’s Heroes!) WAIT…is that Brady Bunch on there as well? OK…now I have an issue… Anyhow, back to our game tonight. It came down to that final question – and it was Arthur C. Clarke for the win! 2001: A Space Odyssey happens to one of my personal faves; an excellent story. Congrats to our Top 3 who definitely fought for this one. 2nd and 3rd came down to a tie-breaker! The board looked like this:
Props Stink! GG. Next week Stink Floyd has chosen “Famous Critters,” as their Winner’s Choice category. Have a great week everyone and I will see you next Tuesday. DG 🙂
Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA
Our opening night at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington could not have gone any better. A whopping 15 TEAMS rolled into our newest venue, and it was a dogfight between some our veteran teams. Zissou managed to sneak out into the lead during round four, but decided to play it VERY SAFE on their final wager. Fortunatelym, for them, no other team was able to leap frog them with a correct response, and so it was Zissou who hung on for their first win of the season. Capitol City Goofballs took second, while the Valley Girls used their knowledge of German film directors to take third place. Next week begins with a question on the Seattle Music Scene of the early 1990s. I’m sensing a musical clue… ~ Matt
