A New Month of Pour House Trivia!

We kicked off October on the weekend this year, so the first two trivia nights of the month went down at four different venues in Frederick and Hagerstown.  Some of our most loyal teams were in action for some very close games.  Which teams rose to the top of the leaderboard?

WEEKEND STATS AND FACTS (25 teams across four venues):

–> Highest Overall Score: Fisted Sister (Benders) with 173

–> Highest Score after Round 4: Fisted Sister (Benders) with 161

–> Highest First Half Score: Uncle Jack (Belles’) and Fisted Sister (Benders) with 89

–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagers and final): Uncle Jack (Belles’) and What Else Could It Be!? (Benders)

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (33.3% success rate):

–> Weighing in at about 1,800 pounds, which animal’s name is derived from an Algonquin word which means ‘twig-eater’?

SUNDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (57.1% success rate):

–> For his role in a 2015 film, this actor earned more than 2,000 times the salary from the first time he’d played that same role.  His most recent role marked the fourth time in which he had portrayed the character.  Who is this actor?

(you’ll find the answers later in this blog)

Pretzel and Pizza in Hagerstown, MD

Another great battle for the top spots was had at Pretzel & Pizza Creations on Saturday!  Three teams just kept switching between each other and taking turns in 1st place after every round, and when the final question was answered they all switched the order up one last time!  Dropping down to 3rd was the Off Beats, moving down to 2nd was We’ve Embraced Our Mediocrity, and making the jump from 3rd to 1st place was Give Us Your Beer Money!! They picked “J.R.R. Tolkien Novels that are NOT Lord of the Rings OR The Hobbit”  for next week’s winners choice so study up and come join us for some fun next Saturday night at Pretzel & Pizza Creations!!!

Captain Benders in Sharpsburg, MD

It’s officially October and you know what that means…  Well, it doesn’t actually mean anything but I’m feeling pretty witchy and my countdown to Halloween has begun!  (Candy to follow as we get closer to the day!)  We had a packed house at Captain Bender’s tonight and it was anyone’s game all the way up to the final!

Our first round ended in a 3-way tie with only a single point separating the ranks.  Rolling into our audio question for Round 2 combined music with common initials for our audiophiles in the audience.  The puzzle page was a bit tricky, but you guys made up for it in our second half! Round 3 began with an avian spin on our 3 Clues / 1 Word category and wrapped up with everybody’s favorite.. Boy Bands!   And finally, we kicked off Round 4 with some Sci-Fi TV and wrapped it by testing your anniversary knowledge, all leading up to our Business of Hollywood Final!

Who reigned victorious at the end of the night?

First Place:  Fisted Sister

Second Place:  What Else Could it Be!?

Thurd Place:  Boh’s & Hoes

Next week’s first category: “There’s Something About Mary” (a film that definitely did NOT feature Harrison Ford)

See you next Sunday!

The Beacon in Frederick, MD

It was nice to finally have a break from the rain and some sunshine before our game at The Beacon.  The game went pretty smoothly tonight, no crazy flip flops or end of game switcheroos like I’ve been seeing lately….  I’ll be honest… it felt a little weird!  But after the final was answered, we had I’m Just Making This Up as I Go Along in 3rd, the Survivors in 2nd and the Witiots adding another 1st place win to their current streak! The only shocking twist of the night was that they didn’t pick a triple 50-50 for next weeks winners choice! (Matt/Denny, can you believe it?!?) It will be “Frederick City History” for next Sundays W.C. category so study up, and I hope to see everyone next week at The Beacon!!
