A Legacy of Weekend Trivia!
Last weekend saw two great games of Pour House Trivia, as well as a pair of VERY close match-ups which came down to the final question. Here are the important numbers from last weekend:
WEEKEND STATS AND FACTS (19 teams across four venues):
–> Highest Overall Score: Fisted Sister (Captain Benders) with 169

–> Highest First Half Score: Give Us Your Beer Money (Pretzel and Pizza) with 92
–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagering questions and final): An impressive performance by several teams meant that we had five teams core the ‘Perfect 21’ this weekend.
SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (60.0% success rate):
–> On an alphabetical list of the independent nations of the world, what is the first country listed whose capital city is NOT its most populous city?
SUNDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (66.7% success rate):

Belles’ Sports Bar in Frederick, MD
Thanks again to everyone for braving the chilliness and joining me at Belles’ Sports Bar for a little Saturday night PHT! The first two rounds didn’t prove too difficult for you fine folks, but we ran into a geographical “toughy” and one “head-scratcher” in a literature category, both in the third round. The fourth round went a bit smoother, though our onion question caused a few to cry. We needed a tie-breaker to settle it all up, and here are the results:
First Place: Uncle Jack
Second Place: Simple Minds
Third Place: Smarty Pants
Next week’s first category: “It’s A Wonderful Life”

Pretzel and Pizza Creations in Hagerstown, MD
We had some fun at our Saturday night game at Pretzel & Pizza Creations! … well… One team had a LOT of fun going into the final question with a 22 point lead! Once all the answers were in for the final, this is how we looked. After an up and down game, Sanford and Son came in 3rd, Off Beats ended up taking 2nd, and playing an AMAZING game from start to finish, Give Us Your Beer Money went “Down Under’ on the final for he correct answer of Australia, and cruised to a dominating 1st place victory!! They decided to go with “Star Trek Captains” for next weeks winners choice, so study up and I’ll see everyone next Saturday at Pretzel & Pizza Creations!!

Captain Benders Tavern in Sharpsburg, MD
We were getting into the holiday spirit this Sunday at Captain Benders in Tavern in Sharpsburg, after having last weekend off with the whole family of regulars in the house! We kicked off Round 1 with our Winner’s Choice from 2 weeks ago, Lakes of the World and ended with yet another Wet Body. For our audio question to start Round 2 we played a holiday novelty song and then threw it back to the 90s to finish things up. Needless to say, you guys CRUSHED the puzzle pages with your license plate smarts with some sporty nicknames mixed in. We took a more literary route to start Round 3, then Along Came Steven Tyler Perry, I tried to throw you a curveball for the 6-4-2 but you guys knew just enough about Stephen Hawking to get you some bonus points. Round 4 began a little lighter with a throwback sitcom and gave you one LAST chance to pad your scores before our final question. The category at hand was International Brands, and with most teams nailing the correct answer of Subaru, our final scores looked like this:
First Place: Fisted Sister
Second Place: Boh’s & Hoes
Third Place: What Else Could It Be!?
Next week’s first category: Settlers of Catan

The Beacon in Frederick, MD
There was a good battle for 1st place between 2 teams at our Sunday night game at The Beacon. The team in 2nd started out down after the first round, but slowly kept making up ground throughout the rest of the game. Once we reached the final question, they were within 4 points of the team in 1st. Both teams decided to go big or go home with the full 12 on the final wager, and this is how it ended… Finishing 3rd was Survivors, they answered the final correctly but unfortunately so did the leading team so 2nd place was Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap, and our 1st place winners were once again the Witiots!! They picked “Triple 50-50: Dog Breed or National Park” for next weeks winners choice, so study up and I’ll see everyone next Sunday at The Beacon!!
