A Classic Thursday Night Trivia Duel!

Thursday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 118 teams across 14 venues:

FIRST ROUND:

Thursday’s opening round topics included biographical film roles, U.S. cities, and these two works of Dr. Seuss:

With few surprises in the opening round, 21 teams stormed out of the gate with 36 points.

SECOND ROUND:

Thursday’s audio clue quizzed our teams on musicians with five letter stage names: Falco, Jewel, and Kesha, before moving on to questions regarding “cruel and unusual punishments” and ghee butter.  The most difficult bonus question of the first half was asked as a follow-up to Michael Jordan’s record-setting 63-point performance in 1986, as only eight teams knew that the game featured the last NBA appearance by “The Iceman”, George Gervin:

Most of the teams that picked up bonus points here cruised to a perfect second round score, as five teams earned 36 points in the second stanza.

HALFTIME:

Thursday’s halftime page featured the topics of Disney film title cards and Olympic / World Cup hosts.  Falling on the more difficult side, none of our teams were able to earn a perfect score, with the overall average reaching 14.8 points.  These were your highest scoring Thursday teams after the first half:

THIRD ROUND:

A three-part question about “TRAP”s began Thursday’s second half.  After most of the field earned wagering points with the answers of sand trap and mousetrap, only seven teams snagged two bonus points by remembering the name of this rap opera:

R Kelly Closet

Later, we looked the Voyager space program, Gerber baby food, and the Australian not-a-boy-band 5 Seconds of Summer.  Thanks to the opening bonus question, none of our teams earned perfect third round scores.

FOURTH ROUND:

Final round topics included Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk, outspoken Asian leader Rodrigo Duterte, and Three Clues for the word Moon, the last of which referenced this film which featured a masterful performance by Sam Rockwell:

After closing the fourth round with a question on the Nickelodeon sketch series “All That”, only Breadsticks (Quincy’s) turned in a perfect final round score.  Here is your overall leaderboard heading into the final question:

THURSDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (44.3% success rate):

–> In the years following his most infamous act, what disgraced American politician was arrested for allegedly conspiring to create his own country in what is now the southwestern United States?

Just under half of our teams responded correctly with Aaron Burr.  Congratulations to Breadsticks (Quincy’s) and Brother of Menelaus (Fish Market), who each recorded the Perfect 21 tonight with correct answers of all wagering questions, with Breadsticks accomplishing the feat as a duo.  Here is your final Thursday leaderboard:

An honorable mention goes out to Effin Peter (Quincy’s), who recorded 170 total points while playing ‘over the limit’.
