A Cameo Appearance at Weekend Trivia!
With the opening of trivia night at the Eagles Club in downtown Frederick, we hosted games at five different venues last weekend, welcoming a total of 52 teams. As usual, our two busiest games took place on Friday night, with both Springfield Manor Winery and Vanish Brewery taking in more than 15 teams:
FIRST HALF:
Friday’s first round was a cinch for most of the field, as nine teams cruised to a perfect score of 36 points. Saturday’s teams were tripped up by an early bonus question regarding this infamous Super Bowl moment:
Only one of our Saturday teams remembered that “Rock Your Body” was the last song played during the infamous Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show. Friday’s audio question featured clips from three films starring the late Burt Reynolds. While there were mixed opinions on the concept in general, there was a clear consensus that this was a very difficult question. Out of 36 Friday teams, only six teams recognized any two of these three films: “The Longest Yard”, “Striptease”, and “All Dogs Go To Heaven”. With the Saturday teams also dealing with a trio a difficult bonus questions, we did not see any perfect scores in the second round.
HALFTIME:
Oscar hosts and ordinal number titles were the featured concepts on the weekend halftime pages, which yielded four perfect scores and an overall average of 14.9 points. These were your highest scoring first half teams from last weekend:
- Mount Mongooses (Springfield Manor Winery): 86
- Goobers (Springfield Manor Winery): 86
- Here For the Beer (Vanish Brewery): 85
- Uncle Jack (Belles’ Sports Bar): 85
SECOND HALF:
The most difficult wagering question of the weekend was asked during the third round on Saturday:
–> Penned by Janette Lowery in the 1940s, this children’s book tells the story of a curious young dog, his siblings, and lots of desserts. Today, it remains the best-selling children’s hardcover book of all-time.
Only one of our Saturday teams gave us this correct answer, which makes you wonder how this is the best-selling hardcover children’s book of all-time:
Meanwhile, our Friday teams dealt with some rather difficult bonus questions in their second half, as only a few teams picked up two bonus points on questions regarding Super Bowl quarterbacks, classic video games, and U.S. Presidents. As a result, there were no perfect scores in either of the final two rounds this weekend. Here is your weekend leaderboard heading into the final question:
- Mad Facts: Query Road (Vanish Brewery): 154
- Clashburn (Vanish Brewery): 152
- Uncle Jack (Belles’ Sports Bar): 152
- Fan Club (Vanish Brewery): 151
FRIDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (23.9% success rate):
–> With virtually no previous acting experience, which celebrity made the first of his 38 feature film cameos in the comedy “Mallrats”?
SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (75.0% success rate):
–> In order to be in line with its slogan of “strong enough to stand on”, the Shwayder Brothers Company officially adopted which Biblically inspired brand name?
