Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday brought you back to the halcyon days of ESPN doing scripted programming!
We also ran our usual gamut of all the fine trivia things you need to know, so check out the recaps!
Another real close tonight here at Bunker in Leesburg! Apparently ESPN should stay away from scripted drama series, as NO ONE heard of the show Playmakers. The teams all recovered well, and here are the results:
Cake or Death in 1st
Thundercats in 2nd
Voodoo in 3rd
Our first category for next week is the acting career of Joey Tribiani.
Subconscious urges pop up in me all the time to do things that I believe emerge from hosting trivia. Like, right now I have an urge to eat Cookie Crisp and watch Tombstone. And as Rotten Tomatoes has OK’d an endeavor for Pitch Perfect (70% currently), I might make it a movie weekend (Mad Max is at 99%!!! on RT). It’s one of the reasons I love my job hosting trivia – I get to keep abreast of all the fun things to do in the world. Cookie Crisp JONES is ON!
Great game of live trivia tonight for sure! It was a tight one all the way through but about mid-way through, Team Mauled by Denny decided to make a sprint when coming around the clubhouse turn. And whipping away on their trivial behind they did! And took it home baby! Great game y’all. Much props to our Top 3 this evening! It was a tough field.
Remember next week we start giving out invites to playoffs and World Series. Get a crew together for post season fun and games, and Pub Crawl! It’s gonna be a blast. So I will see you next Thursday night. We start that game with Frasier. Until then, enjoy your weekend and maybe I will see you at the movies? I will be the guy in the back row who likely snuck in a box of Cookie Crisp 😉 DG
In a packed Fish Market tonight, it seemed to be a battle of the 2-man teams as That’s Not My Leg and Welcome To You’re Doom flip-flopped the lead all night! Not to mention Oscar Meyer, another duo team tonight, was in the top 3 for a majority of the game!
The duo of Welcome to You’re Doom is no stranger to the top spot, winning an unmatched 5 games over the last 2 months. Oscar Meyer, once a regular here now stopping in after a short hiatus, also ranks fairly high when they get the chance to come out and join us for trivia night. It was quite a match up. That’s Not My Leg, last week’s winners, usually has a core group of 4-6 players but tonight it was just 2 of them. The two of them held the team’s reputation very strong, however, and led going into the final question.
The precedent has been set that the final questions here at PHT are usually quite difficult. This fact played into the final wagers for some of our teams. That’s Not My Leg, who led going into the final, went defensive and bet to secure a top 3 spot. Oscar Meyer did the same. Welcome to You’re Doom showed no signs of playing it safe and went all in for the final question. Tonight’s final was gotten by all 3 of our top teams so, in an interesting turn of events, Welcome to You’re Doom was able to jump into the lead! Great game guys! That’s Not My Leg takes an honorable 2nd place and Oscar Meyer rounds it out in 3rd. We’re back next week for more. I’ll be there, hope you’ll join us! Until then 😉
1st Place: Welcome to You’re Doom
2nd Place: That’s Not My Leg
3rd Place: Oscar Meyer
Next week’s category: 90’s 1 Hit Wonders
We had a nice crowd in Guido’s Speakeasy for live trivia last night! And a packed house brings an exciting game to watch unfold!
Finishing in 3rd with another impressive game was 5 O’Clock Charlie and A Stygmatism! in 2nd place was Not Quite White!! Now with a second 1st place in a row, Tuna Noodle Casserole!! I know what you’re thinking, “How are they going to top their last winners choice category?”
Well, by choosing “Lubrication” of course!! We have a lot of fun here at Guido’s on Thursday nights, why not join us sometime for a fun game and a laugh!?

Well we certainly had an interesting night under the tent at Lake Linganore! Your humble host had a bit of a panic attack when my computer decided to freeze up and die right in the middle of Round 1! I, however, am not one to be bested by technology – I kept things going and helped everyone maintain high spirits in the face of a crisis. Now I know how FDR must have felt… 😛
All equipment failure aside, we had a great game. Going into the finale, there was only a two-point difference between first and third place after a relatively tough set. The “Family Feud” finale proved to be a boon to everybody’s scores, resulting in the same two-point difference just 12 points higher. Faking Bad were our big winners with Sloppy Seconds living up to their name and Moose & Squirrel nabbing third. Next week’s Winners’ Choice category will be Math Class. I understand that a majority of the neighborhood kids will be performing in a school play that night – wish many broken legs to them from me! I’ll see ya next week for a game of post-show trivia!
– Eric 🙂
As always it was a pleasure to fill in at Main Street Oyster House. There were plenty of ups and downs on the score sheet this evening but the real excitement happened at the final question.
We had one team brave enough to wager 12 and it paid off landing them 2nd place. Third went to Anal Bum Covers, Second went to Jason Spunkmier, and First went to Clever Team name. Winner’s choice for next week will be 80’s Movies. Time to have an awesome movie marathon!
It was quite the interesting finish at Quincy’s n Gaithersburg. It had been a very long time since I had seen a team in the lead bet ZERO on the final question, but that’s what happened tonight! Would that be an effective strategy on Thursday? In a word….no. The conservative approach helped Short Bus take down their first win of the season! Smella Nella took second with I Just Quizzed My Pants in third. Next week begins with a question on Chemistry! ~ Matt
