In addition to our top-notch hosts and our great games, something that sets us apart is cultivating a great set of music to go along with our games!
Before we finish this blog post, we’ll set you up with 10 near-perfect songs for your trivia game, but first, a few things to note.
1. Music is the great filler
Playing a song is a great way to smooth out any wrinkles you might have during a trivia night. Have a few too many teams miss a question? Crank up those tunes and use it to fill in the space before your next question!
Everybody get it right and in a joyous mood? Crank em’ up again! Help keep the party atmosphere going.
Above all, be sure you have a good mix of songs – no one wants to hear the same things every week!
2. Be up tempo
There’s nothing at all wrong with a slow song, maybe one to grab your date with and slow dance at a wedding.
But they’re a tougher sell during a round of pub quiz. Anything you can do to avoid a lull is the way to go here. Lulls create boredom, and boredom is the last thing you need or want as a trivia host.
3. Know your audience!
You want to mix your genres up: a little classic rock, a little pop, and hey, some stuff you love too, as long as it’s fairly listener friendly.
But you should take heed of what your crowd is into as well. Does it skew a bit older? Make sure you choose songs from their era as well as more modern stuff.
Is it a fairly young crowd? Then you’ll want to match their eras as well, and skew your music more modern.
Now that we’ve dispensed some tips, on with the hits!
Here’s a few tunes we at Pour House Trivia, and our fans, are fond of. Check em out!
These are in no particular order, but it’s 10 tracks that should be easy ones to add to your playlist!
